A pitcher is the most important player on the diamond at any time in baseball. They’re the ones who primarily determine how an at-bat goes, how many runs are scored, and the outcome of the game. While pitching might not be your main focus in MLB The Show 25, it’s something that you’ll need to understand and master if you want to play all modes in the game.
Like position players and hitters, pitchers in MLB The Show 25 have specific attributes that determine how strong or weak they are in certain areas. The higher a specific attribute is, the stronger the pitcher is in that specific area of their game. However, attributes are different for pitchers depending on the mode you’re playing, and they can be a little tricky to understand, as there are all sorts of acronyms and terms you might not know the meaning of.
To help you make sense of a pitcher’s attributes and how they affect their game in MLB The Show 25, check out the guide below. If you want to see the attributes explained for position players across all game modes, check out our previous guide.
Pitching Attributes In MLB The Show 25 Road To The Show
To start things off, I’m going to talk about the pitching attributes in the Road to the Show mode in MLB The Show 25. This mode allows you to become a pitcher or a two-way player who plays both sides of the ball. Either way, if you’re a pitcher of any type in Road to the Show, you need to understand the different attributes for a pitcher so you can make the best decisions when using your valuable tokens.
Below, you can see all the pitching attributes in RTTS, their sub-attributes, and what each one means:
PER/9

The first pitching attribute in RTTS is called PER/9, and this affects your overall effectiveness as a pitcher across all nine innings. By increasing this attribute, you’re basically improving all facets of your game. A higher PER/9 means you’re better at fooling hitters and making them chase pitches or hit soft balls to the field.
PER/9 affects your ability to give up fewer home runs and hard hits, issue fewer walks, and strike out more batters. It’s the main attribute you’ll want to focus on as a pitcher in RTTS. Here are the sub-attributes for PER/9 in RTTS:
- H/9 – Hits per nine innings
- HR/9 – Homeruns per nine innings
- K/9 – Strikeouts per nine innings
- BB/9 – Walks per nine innings
Big Game

Next up is the Big Game attribute, which primarily affects how clutch your pitcher is and their stamina. This is another big attribute for a pitcher, with the stamina sub-attribute being a huge deal in terms of how effective your pitcher is in late-game scenarios. You don’t want your pitcher to peter out after five innings and start throwing meatballs to opposing hitters.
Of course, you don’t want to ignore the clutch factor either, as a pitcher who can get out of a bases-loaded jam in the eighth inning is a much more beneficial asset to a team than a pitcher who lets up a base hit to tie the game. Here are the sub-attributes for Big Game in RTTS:
- Pitching Clutch
- Stamina
Fielding

Fielding is a fairly self-explanatory attribute in RTTS, and it’s the same for position players as well as pitchers. This basically affects your pitcher’s ability to field balls that are hit at them, which doesn’t happen too often unless you get a hitter who likes to bunt. The fielding attribute also comes with the durability sub-attribute, though, and that comes into play when it comes to your pitcher staying off the Injured List.
Here are the sub-attributes for Fielding in RTTS:
- Fielding
- Reaction
- Durability
Throwing

Finally, the last pitching attribute in RTTS is throwing. This is a big one for pitchers, as their literal job is to throw a baseball. However, the throwing attribute doesn’t mean your pitcher will be able to pitch faster. This attribute only relates to your pitcher’s throwing speed when making a play on a hit ball in the field. A higher throwing attribute means your pitcher will be able to deliver a stronger and more accurate throw on balls in play.
Here are the sub-attributes for Throwing in RTTS:
- Arm Strength
- Arm Accuracy
Those are all of the pitching attributes in RTTS. Obviously, you want to focus on PER/9 and Big Game, as those are the primary attributes you’ll get the most out of, but don’t ignore Fielding and Throwing either, as those attributes can be game-savers in certain situations.
All Pitching Attributes In MLB The Show 25 Diamond Dynasty
Now let’s get into the different pitching attributes for the Diamond Dynasty mode in MLB The Show 25. This mode combines several sub-attributes from RTTS and turns them into your primary attributes, which each pitcher has. To see the attributes for pitchers and position players in Diamond Dynasty, go to the main menu in the mode, press the “Stats, Standings, and History” box in the Home tab, and then select “Handbook.” By going to the “Attribute Descriptions” section, you can view every applicable attribute in the mode.

You can see the pitching attributes for Diamond Dynasty below:
- STA – Stamina: Affects your pitcher’s energy and how fast or slow it goes down as a game goes on
- H/9 – Hits per nine innings: Influences how often batters make solid contact against pitches. Hitters with higher CON L/R attributes have a higher chance to make better contact, but pitchers with a high H/9 counteract that attribute.
- BB/9 – Walks per nine innings: Influences how accurate a pitcher is, which is indicated by the Perfect Accuracy Region mechanic. Hitters can’t affect this attribute.
- CTRL – Control: Acts in conjunction with BB/9 to determine a pitcher’s accuracy.
- PCLT – Pitching Clutch: Mainly comes up when there are runners in scoring position (RISP) and affects the pitcher’s ability to get out of tough jams.
- VEL – Velocity: Affects a pitcher’s top speed for their faster pitchers, such as 4-Seam/2-Seam Fastballs, Cutters, Sinkers, etc.
- BRK – Break: Affects a pitcher’s overall break on pitches that have a curve to them.
Some new attributes in Diamond Dynasty are not available in RTTS. All of these attributes work together to determine the overall effectiveness of your pitcher in every situation and with all of their pitches.
All Pitching Attributes In MLB The Show 25 Franchise
Finally, we arrive at the last mode in MLB The Show 25 that features pitching attributes. Franchise Mode features both new and existing attributes that you see in both RTTS and Diamond Dynasty. Of course, all attributes in Franchise use acronyms, so you might not know what they mean if you only play Franchise.

We’ll explain what they are and what they all mean below:
- STA – Stamina
- H/9 – Hits per nine innings
- K/9 – Strikeouts per nine innings
- BB/9 – Walks per nine innings
- HR/9 – Homeruns per nine innings
- PCLT – Pitching Clutch
- CTRL – Control
- VEL – Velocity
- BRK – Break
- FLD – Fielding
- ARM – Arm Strength
- ACC – Arm Accuracy
- REAC – Reaction Time
And that does it for all of the pitching attributes across every applicable mode in MLB The Show 25. As long as you know what they all mean, you can make your pitcher into the best version of whatever you’re envisioning for them.
