WWE’s Shocking Reason For Canceling Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III Has Been Revealed. The Scrapped Match Was Supposed To Be A WrestleMania Headliner

The reason for WWE cancelling Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns III at WrestleMania has been revealed.

WWE has reportedly pulled the plug on Cody Rhodes taking on Roman Reigns for the third time at WrestleMania. It had widely been rumored that the Stamford-based wrestling promotion was aiming for another match between Reigns and Rhodes.

The marquee match would complete a trilogy of their grand matches that was planned for WrestleMania 42. Seeds were even sown as well for another match down the line at Survivor Series: WarGames. However, WWE has chosen to shift from these plans and that this encounter is no longer in the cards, at least for this year’s Mania.

Ibou from Self Made recently reported on an episode of Self Made Sessions that WWE couldn’t come up with a result that would satisfy both stars. Ultimately, it led to these plans falling apart for WrestleMania 42, even though the professional wrestling promotion wanted to go for it.

Rhodes And Roman Have Produced Magic At WrestleMania Before

Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes’ story has been intertwined ever since the latter returned to the company. The American Nightmare had made it his mission from day one to become the WWE Champion. He knew that he had to take down Reigns to achieve it.

The two would ultimately square off against one another in the main event of WrestleMania 39 for the first time. Rhodes came close to dethroning Reigns but was ultimately thwarted by his allies. The Grandson of a Plumber would have to persevere then and fight to the top once again.

Fans knew that the two stars had incredible chemistry with one another, and expectations were high for the next match. Reigns and Rhodes would deliver once again as they put on a clinic at WrestleMania 40. The match saw everyone get involved, from The Rock to John Cena, and more. Rhodes would finally finish his story and win the WWE Championship, which brought tears of joy to fans’ eyes.

What Could WWE Pivot To Now?

It seems that Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns won’t be battling for a third time at WrestleMania, according to recent reports. Now the fans are wondering what WWE has in mind for the main event instead.

Perhaps they might choose to pivot their focus to Drew McIntyre and place him as the headline. The Scottish Psychopath dethroned Cody Rhodes and is looking as strong as ever. The fans are invested in his storylines and want to see more of him as a big-time heel.
