Betrayals in WWE are either the most shocking or predictable storylines in the business. An excellent example of a betrayal is when Seth Rollins turned his back on The Shield and aligned himself with Triple H and Stephanie McMahon. Fortunately, when least expected by the crowd, you can time your betrayals in Universe mode in WWE 2K23.
Here’s how to set one up.
WWE 2K23: How To Betray In Universe Mode
Here’s how you can set up a betrayal scenario and have two allied superstars become two bitter WWE rivals:

- In Universe mode, select MyUniverse > Rivalry.
- You should set the Rivalry Type to “One on One.”
- Afterward, you should select two wrestlers who aren’t in a rivalry, and they should be “Allies.”
- You can check if they are allies in the Superstars tab in MyUniverse.
- Moving forward, go to the matches screen and highlight the rivalry card. Press R3 and then remove actions from both wrestlers by pressing the X or Square button (depending on your controller).
- Add an action and select Betrayal.
- You can either choose Low-Blow Betrayal, Post-Match Betrayal, or Mid-Match Betrayal.
- Low-Blow Betrayal has the victim lose five (5) momentum.
- Post-Match Betrayal increases the attacker’s Treacherous Trait while decreasing the victim’s momentum by five (5).
- Mid-Match Betrayal allows the attacker to interrupt the match between the victim and another superstar and has the same effects as Post-Match Betrayal.
- Play through the match, and depending on the Betrayal type, you’ll get a cutscene that portrays the actions of both superstars.
All that’s left is to recreate one of your most favorite and iconic WWE betrayals from the roster. You can even add rivalries with custom wrestlers from the Creation Suite. For example, you can recreate Triple H ruining Randy Orton’s championship celebration on RAW after his match at SummerSlam 2004. Lastly, you can be creative and set up your own betrayal scenarios as if you’re part of WWE’s creative team.
