WWE 2K Survey Asks Why Players Aren’t Upgrading to 2K26

Some players aren't upgrading to the latest edition. And 2K are curious why.

With annual releases like WWE 2K (or any sports game for that matter), there is always this question of whether you should upgrade or not. Because, let’s face it, the upgrades you get in an annual release aren’t that game-changing. Most of the time, it’s slight gameplay improvements, updated rosters, and one or two gimmicks that tend to get old really quickly. Of course, it’s not always as bad, but you don’t necessarily get a completely new game every year.

In WWE 2K26’s case, the story is pretty much the same. The game has added new features, improvements to both gameplay and the modes, and, of course, bigger and updated rosters. But, fans are still hesitant to get the game, especially those who already own WWE 2K25.

So, to get more clarity on this, 2K hosted a survey on their Discord asking fans why they are not upgrading to WWE 2K26.

Possible Reasons Why Players Aren’t Upgrading To WWE 2K26

Well, the most obvious reason is the price. WWE 2K26 launched at $70, which is quite expensive for most people. And that’s not even including the litany of special editions.

For $70, you are mostly getting the same experience you did last year, albeit with some improvements. For most, that’s not a great deal.

That’s why a lot of fans choose to wait for the game to go on sale, which it usually does. NBA 2K26 launched at the $70 mark, and it has gone on sale multiple times after that. So, it just makes sense for most people to wait out for a few months instead of buying into the launch hype.

It gives you time to wait for a sale, and you can also see where the game is heading, and read reviews from people to see whether it’s worth buying in the first place or not.

The other most popular reason is that the previous game is enough for your needs. There are many who solely buy WWE 2K just to play with friends on couch parties or maybe run games with bots in their free time. You don’t need to upgrade every year for that.

Why The Survey Is A Great Initiative

The survey is a solid move from 2K. It’s a good way to gauge what’s stopping your audience from buying the game. When you understand what the wall is, it’s easier to find solutions to break it down. If the results of the survey say that most players are not upgrading because of the price, we could see 2K start a sale to get more players in.

Whether they do anything with the data from the survey is pretty much up for speculation, but if they do manage to solve the pain points of players, that would be a win-win situation.
