Much like The Masters Tournament itself, one tradition unlike any other is that every time when a new golf game is announced, fans always ask “will Augusta be in the game?” and then are usually disappointed. This tournament and golf course has a hold on the golf community, and rightfully so as it’s the most popular major and takes place at one of the prettiest courses in the world.
PGA Tour 2K25 was recently announced and they’ve brought multiple majors to the game for the first time. This was after it was thought that EA Sports had exclusive rights to all of the majors for at least a few more years, but apparently not.

However, despite having the majors, there’s one event missing from the bunch in PGA Tour 2K25 and you guessed it, it’s The Masters. So to answer the question, there will be no Masters or Augusta National in the new PGA Tour 2K game. 2K has made no indications it’s on the horizon, so The Masters remains with EA’s golf game (EA Sports PGA Tour) at least for now. EA’s golf franchise seems like it may be on hold or even cancelled so perhaps 2K could do something in the future, but we won’t speculate further. In short, we’re stuck with the Legends Championship once again.
But why isn’t The Masters in the game? Theories vary from EA still having the license, to Augusta just being too expensive to acquire. However, not all is lost for those of you just itching to tee it up at Augusta in PGA Tour 2K25. The always wonderful Course Designer will make its return once again so this will open the doors to many great Augusta replica courses to play. Just don’t expect these on day one of release as the community will still need to either build up the courses from scratch or transfer their previous designs from 2K23 to 2K25.
As for the official offerings, having three of the majors is a huge step for the PGA Tour 2K franchise. In due time, it wouldn’t shock me to see Augusta and The Masters wiggle their way into the game in the future. It’s also important to note that the Old Course at St. Andrews will be coming to the game at a later time. This is a fantastic addition and one that’s long overdue.
