‘We're not playing hard, we're not playing to win': Giannis unleashes on Bucks teammates after embarrassing loss

Didn’t try to hide the frustration.

The Milwaukee Bucks lost badly to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night. After the game, superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo spoke harshly about his teammates. He said: “We’re not playing hard, we’re not playing to win, we’re not playing together. Our chemistry is not there; guys are being selfish.”

When a team’s best player says something like this publicly, it shows serious problems. Giannis is still performing at an All-NBA level, but the team keeps struggling. The Bucks are currently the eleventh seed, sitting outside of the play-in tournament.

According to Heavy.com, Giannis also criticized the team’s shot selection. He said players are “trying to look for their own shots, they’re not looking for the right shot of the team. Guys try to do it on their own.” He believes the current roster cares more about individual stats than winning games together.

Giannis clearly misses the championship-winning chemistry from past seasons

Antetokounmpo’s frustration shows how much he misses the teamwork from the Bucks’ best years. He praised players from those championship seasons, which is a clear criticism of the current team. He mentioned that the team gave up after one bad possession in the recent game, which is very different from their old winning mentality.

Giannis talked about how the team should play, pointing to the 2021 championship core. He said, “You gotta move us around, you gotta move me around, you gotta move Khris around, you gotta move Jrue around, you gotta move Brook around.” He clearly misses playing with Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez, who were key players on that championship roster. While Nike faced backlash over LeBron’s MLK sneaker, Giannis is dealing with his own challenges in Milwaukee.

These harsh comments have made trade rumors louder. Trade rumors have followed Antetokounmpo all season because many expected the Bucks to struggle. Giannis recently said he wants to spend his entire career with one team and won’t request a trade, but his public statements suggest otherwise.

Antetokounmpo expects to compete for an NBA Championship every season. Multiple teams are reportedly saving their best trade assets, believing a trade request from Giannis could come soon. The Bucks’ front office hopes to add another star player at the trade deadline, but they have limited assets to offer.

Meanwhile, Jimmy Johnson addressed a fake AI video showing how technology affects sports figures today. If Milwaukee can’t improve the team soon, Giannis will have to choose between accepting losing for the next few seasons or requesting a trade. Based on his recent comments, accepting losing doesn’t seem likely.
