She recently talked about filming the boxing scenes in an interview with Vanity Fair. The 28-year-old actress revealed that she and her opponent in those sequences are actually landing shots on each other. Sweeney made this decision because she believed audiences would be able to tell that a stunt double was being used.
“Every single fight you see, we are actually punching each other. We are going full force,” Sweeney said. “I always believed that you would not be able to make it feel real if it’s a stunt double or if it’s faking the hits.”

Sweeney hired a nutritionist who helped her eat up to 4000 calories a day to bulk her up. The diet was mostly made of lean protein, healthy fats, and involved dehydration to achieve a compelling boxing frame.
Sweeney also dedicated all her time to boxing training and weight training under the right coaches. All of this preparation is shown off thrillingly in the trailers. We have to applaud her commitment to the role and to making sure she did justice to the boxing icon on the big screen.
