Spear Interactive has shared another development update for Varsity High School Football, offering a closer look at how progress is coming along as work on the game continues.
On the gameplay side, two-player local PVP is now available across all on-field modes with the team also exploring Steam Remote Play as a way to bring online play to PC. A number of new formations have been added including Tight Split, Bunch, Quads, Trips, Cover 1 and Cover 3 with plans to continue expanding the playbook to better reflect common high school schemes. The update also introduces an instant replay system featuring multiple camera angles and slow motion along with the option to turn replays off for those who prefer a quicker pace.
Development has also shifted back toward Varsity Dynasty, where the team is continuing to build out the mode alongside full 11-on-11 team systems. More details on that front are expected soon.
The next playtest is scheduled for April 24 through April 30 and will feature a full 7-on-7 exhibition mode, a knockout tournament setup, local multiplayer support and a Coach Mode option. Sign-ups are currently open for those interested in participating.
