Kicking off April with a makeover, Valve released the first version of what they call a ”refresh” to the Steam main store page, this time made to streamline the process of finding new games, provide more information regarding recommended titles, and add both QOL improvements and new functions. My highlight? The new Demos tab and the ability to disable micro-trailers.
Currently only available for Steam Client Beta participants, Valve described the new design as “our latest work in making improvements across the Steam store, like the game page updates we made a few months ago. The new layout aims to make it even easier for you to find new games by displaying more content and information”. You can check out a quick look at the new design below and a full overview of all of the new features and upgrades it brings to users by heading to Valve’s official announcement post. Keep in mind that the image below was cropped to fit the 16/9 format.

Although the new look received an overwhelmingly positive reception, some users have raised doubts about it in the official post, with some disliking how the featured titles look. Others have pointed out that the new design feels a lot like a mobile product, something I honestly cannot see. In all cases, it’s important to remember that the new look is still only available as a beta service. In other words, its current goal is to absorb feedback before an eventual implementation.
How To Enter The Steam Client Beta And Try Out The New Design
If you want to test out the new design for yourself, you can do so by first signing up for the Steam Client Beta. To do that, head to Steam Settings, Interface, and then select Steam Beta Update while under Client Beta Participation. Now, simply restart your client to test out the new interface. You can also return to the old one at any time by simply retracing your steps and selecting No beta chosen.
