EA Sports UFC 4
UFC 4 Videos: Multiplayer Action From Dmart and ZHunter
EA Sports UFC 4 is releasing on August 14, and so we’re starting to see more videos out there in the wild from folks like those in the EA Game Changers program. Two of the better videos you can find out there from a UFC 4 online gameplay perspective come from Zhunter going up against Dmart. In the first video, you see Cormier going up against Reyes.
You can also see them square up in another UFC 4 online gameplay video right here that features Ferguson against Dos Anjos. You can also get commentary on a video featuring Zhunter and Brandnewmac from Bayliun right here. In that fight, it’s Cormier going up against Ortiz.
I believe the build they’re playing on in these videos is slightly more updated than the one from the beta, but it’s still not “final” gameplay. That being said, feel free to watch and give feedback since UFC tends to be a game that receives quite a few gameplay updates post-launch.
From my perspective, it seems like there’s not enough tax on stamina as of now. The game still looks to splinter into a battle of throwing fists quite often, and while it looks like you can withstand the multiple punches, there could be more tactical balance here.
Apparently it's about a week later than the beta build

Is the option to pick the shorts colors for real fighters in the game?
In all the videos I have seen it’s always the fighter in the blue corner wearing black. Its a immersion killer IMO because imagine if in madden or NBA 2k you couldn’t pick the colors of the jerseys or attires
I just checked compared to EA UFC 3 and in EA UFC 4 it looks about double the spacing between each health/damage indicator and also that its static in always displaying all damaged areas ; instead of how EA UFC 3 would display then hide it only when a hit on that area occured. I wonder if this can be ammended in the settings menu. But very very odd if it cannot as it looks worse like you mentioned for how much screen space its occupying.

All the KOs look really bad in this game. If you played UFC 3 a good bit, chances are you've seen all the KO animations that are in UFC 4 already
-It seems a bit hard to tell this is UFC 4 until they clinch up or GnP
-It seems the damage is reduced even beyond UFC 3. Way too many shots needed to finish people.
-Landing some hard shots doesn’t seem to either stop the other fighter from throwing their combo, or at least changing the accuracy of their combo. If I crack you with a hard 1-2, I’m not sure how they can still land your combo while getting smacked like that.
-GnP still needs way more impact. It seems they pull the punches back at impact. They need more follow through!
-KO’s just don’t look right
-I really like the clinch. Goodness it’s smooth
-Jury is out on the sub system. I need time with it. But it will always be garbage compared to a HUDless system or TBS.
-Need more stamina hit on all these strikes! Increase damage and increase stamina.

You mean decrease stamina right?

Yes, increase the tax on stamina for activity

I agree. There really needs to be more stamina tax for the amount of strikes that are thrown. This game CAN'T be like UFC 3 when it comes to stamina.
I know some of the gamechangers are against a bigger stamina tax for blocked/whiffed strikes, but you guys had it your way in UFC 3 and we saw how old it got really fast. We need to think before we throw strikes this go around. And if someone is throwing without thinking, they should be penalized for it.

Some GC's including myself, were against a higher stamina tax until the block was nerfed. Now the block has been nerfed. Pretty sure all GC's agree that stamina tax should be higher now.
are you actually a police officer in san diego?
This video makes me feel a bit excited. Clinch, wrestling looks good.

Looks great except the end. That finish is so unnatural

High level competitive play on UFC never looked good imo, there's a reason ESFL averages 300 viewers.
Clinch looks great.
But damn the grappling exchanged in that look smooth, those guys really did a stellar job.

I watched this fight again. I have to say, it’s the best showcase for the game online right now. Hands down.
The striking, the clinch, the wrestling scrambles, it’s very very good.
The only complaint I have is the finish. But everything else is fantastic.

I enjoy watching Martial mind though.
We'll see with UFC 4

These guys were nonstop striking right into clinch striking, into picking a dude up over their head and slamming, into a scramble, back into continuous striking. By the time the second round started they had lost like 10-15 percent of their stamina and these were light heavy/heavyweights lmao. I think Cormier would have had a heart attack by the end of that round. Stamina needs a tweak or it will be very problematic.

Definitely, it continues to be an issue that needs addressing. It was in UFC 1, 2, 3 and now 4.
I’m not sure it will ever be brought to a place of realism. I just don’t think EA wants that. So I won’t hold my breath.
I will say that, although the finish was unnatural, I do like that stacked guard is super dangerous. It should be. A guy on top, fully raining down hard strikes shouldn’t need very many punches to land to stop the fight. So in that aspect I though it was good.

Clinch work and transitions were great, it actually felt like a real exchange
The finish is BS no one likes that getting KOd and hopefully it changes but that actual match and gameplay gives me a bit more hope than I've had previously
Maybe it could be ok after all
Fellow Chicagoan speaking facts
This game looks like dog crap.
They just need to add more animations based on different fighters. NBA 2K has basically everyone’s jump shot replicated. Guys throw punches and kicks differently, they need to capture that

Definitely an improvement. I would be in favor of a slightly bigger long term stamina drain, but so far so good. Romero also posted this tweet about stamina in UFC 4

And I'm with Earv 100%, you don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. UFC 3 had a lot of good things going for it.

Now if only they would just give us back the clinch wrestling that was removed. Doubt that will ever happen though.
