Luka Doncic finally slipped up this season during the game against the OKC Thunder. The Lakers suffered one of their biggest losses this season, going against the OKC Thunder at the Paycom Center.
The purple and gold team fell hard to the opposing team, suffering a 121-92 loss. It certainly was a bad night for everyone involved, and Doncic in particular. The Slovenian superstar failed to deliver for his team, turning in an average performance.
After a bad night for Doncic, one of his biggest critics, Robert Horry, began to question his ability on the court. The Lakers icon has called Doncic slow before and now claimed on Spectrum SportsNet that the star player is trying too hard to be the guy for his team.
“He’s trying so hard to be that guy,” Horry said. “… A lot of his shots to me were bad shots because you got 3 defenders on you. Move the ball, it’ll come back to you.”
Doncic Performed Poorly In The Game
Luka Doncic did not have a good time at the Paycom Center. It had seemed like the Slovenian superstar would be unstoppable against the OKC Thunder. However, he turned in a horrible shooting performance, which seemed unlike him to the fans.
Defending Champion Shai-Gilgeous Alexander would run circles around his opponents. The Lakers seemed defenseless on the court, and their point guard simply couldn’t save them. Doncic only had 11 points in 13 shots in the first half. He would then miss even more shots in the second quarter, with the Lakers completely falling apart at the climax.
Doncic would acknowledge that he had a bad night after the loss to the OKC Thunder. The Lakers star admitted that Cason Wallace did an amazing job guarding him. He further admits that the team and he need to be more prepared for the tough competition that lies ahead of them.
The Lakers Need To Bounce Back After The Embarrassing Defeat
The Lakers seemed like they were picking up steam once again this season. However, an embarrassing loss to the defending champions, the OKC Thunder, might’ve crushed their momentum.
Doncic needs to adjust to the pace once again and call it a bad night if he wants to recover. LeBron James’ return is on the horizon, and we might see him return to the court soon. Hopefully, with James and Doncic linking up once again, it could help bring the team to form.
