Trump declares he's won 38 club championships and is a scratch golfer, but critics point out something suspicious about his count

We took that with a pinch of salt.

President Trump recently said he has won 38 club championships. This is two more than the 36 titles he claimed back in August. He also says he’s a scratch golfer, which means he plays at a very high level with a zero handicap. Trump defended all of his wins, saying cheating is impossible in club championships because large crowds watch these tournaments.

According to Sportbible, Trump also talked about beating a 27-year-old golfer who had a “plus-three” handicap. He said his age doesn’t matter on the course if he’s driving well. “I’ve won 38 club championships, and I don’t get to practice much,” Trump said. “I beat a 27-year-old kid last year. The fairway doesn’t know how old you are.”

These claims come as critics continue to question Trump’s honesty about his golf game. In 2009, Rick Reilly wrote a book called Commander in Cheat: How Golf Explains Trump. The book detailed Trump’s reputation for bending the rules on the course.

Trump’s golf skills have drawn both praise and doubt

Trump spends a lot of time playing golf and owns several courses around the world, including two in Scotland. He recently attended the Ryder Cup in New York, where Europe won. He also teamed up with two-time major winner Bryson DeChambeau for DeChambeau’s YouTube series, “Break 50.” They shot a combined 50, matching the record for that challenge.

DeChambeau later visited the White House and praised Trump’s golf game. He said Trump drives the ball very straight from the tee, which is an important skill for any golfer. This shows Trump has some real ability on the course. The president has been vocal about sports recently, including when he criticized NFL rules and coaching decisions.

However, Trump’s golf comments came just hours after a serious incident in Washington D.C. Two National Guard members were shot during an attack. Sarah Beckstrom, 20, died from her injuries. Andrew Wolfe, 24, is fighting for his life, according to Trump. Trump has also shown support for athletes in other situations, such as when he backed Shedeur Sanders during his transition.

The soldiers were deployed to the capital as part of the administration’s crime crackdown in several American cities. Police arrested 29-year-old Rahmanullah Lakanwal from Afghanistan as a suspect. After the Wednesday attack, the Trump administration announced new measures to limit migration from certain countries, including Afghanistan.
