Travis Kelce is usually getting ready for practice, playing a new game, and doing another media shoot for another brand. So, perhaps it makes sense that he might not know much about Hollywood at all. All of this is what probably led to a funny situation at Taylor Swift’s The Eras tour.

The pop icon recently made an appearance on The Late Late Show with Seth Meyers. Swift has been on a media tour for her newest album, The Life of A Showgirl. She reflected on the time Kelce came to join the party and last year at Night two of The Eras tour in London. During her conversation, she revealed that she saw her partner enjoying himself with a host of celebrities.

She then did a debrief about his time at the concert, where Kelce told her that his joke about Barbie didn’t land with Greta Gerwig. He also stated that he saw Gerwig dancing quite closely to Hugh Grant, and they seemed quite close. She then quickly realized his mistake and told him that he had told the joke to the wrong person and that it was Grant’s wife instead of Gerwig.

“Is there any chance at all, baby, that you complimented Hugh Grant’s wife, Anna, on her movie ‘Barbie,’ said, ‘I’m just Ken, too,’ and she politely nodded because she didn’t have the heart to tell you she didn’t direct it? Swift said. And is there any chance that the people who look like soulmates are Hugh Grant and his soulmate?”

You have to respect Travis Kelce; he saw his shot for the joke and made the most obvious one. His Barbie joke to Greta Gerwig was supposed to break the ice with her. He thought in his mind that he was going to say, “I’m just Ken too,” and get a nice reaction from the acclaimed director. However, to his surprise, the joke didn’t land with her.

He seemingly kept thinking that he had annoyed her until Swift revealed his huge fumble. It seems that Kelce had a few drinks in him when he supposedly made the mistake. Hugh Grant’s wife, Anna, would often pass it off and be nice, not correcting him immediately. However, he would still have to face some level of embarrassment now that this story is public.

You also have to consider that what makes the situation even funnier is that the actual Greta Gerwig was right beside him, having fun. However, the Chiefs’ star still somehow threw the joke over to Anna Grant and didn’t realize his mistake until Swift corrected him.

Now that you’d think Travis Kelce’s joke must’ve made things pretty awkward between everyone. However, you’d be wrong, as it looked like it didn’t stop anyone from having the time of their lives. A viral video showed Kelce rubbing shoulders with Gerwing and Anna Grant beside him.

Taylor Swift’s music proved to be the healing factor amongst all the shenanigans. It seems like everyone went home with a smile on their face thanks to the pop icon. So, perhaps Kelce might need to appreciate her more for making everyone forget the awkwardness.
