Sloane confirmed that West is making progress. According to TMZ, he said he is “proud of Delonte as he has used this process to seek out help and been released on bond to a treatment facility.” West is “particularly appreciative of the numerous thoughts and well wishes over the last several weeks.”

The recent incident happened last month in Virginia. West was arrested after he allegedly robbed and attacked someone in the Belle Haven area. Police were called to the 5900 block of Richmond Highway after a person reported the robbery and assault.

West’s treatment comes after years of troubling incidents

When police arrived, the victim pointed out West across the street. Officers quickly identified him, as he has become familiar to local authorities over the past few years. Police confirmed that the total amount allegedly taken from the victim was only around $23.

West was taken into custody without any problems and was later released on a $1,000 recognizance bond. He is currently scheduled to appear in court in March. This isn’t the first time fans have witnessed his struggles in recent years.

This latest arrest follows a pattern of incidents for West in Virginia. In November, he was arrested after officers found him unconscious. When they tried to offer him a ride to the hospital, he refused medical treatment. Because he was very intoxicated, police arrested him for his own safety.

West had two separate arrests in 2024. In June, he was arrested when officers tried to serve a warrant on him. The warrant was related to violating the conditions of his previous release and resisting arrest. In November, he was arrested again for trespassing. Other former NBA players have faced similar legal troubles during traffic stops and encounters with law enforcement.

Sloane’s statement gives hope to fans and those who care about West. While the legal situation continues, the attorney is confident that the case details will show “much more to the story” than what was first reported. The most important thing is that West is actively getting treatment and taking serious steps toward recovery.
