Theo Von’s Move Poured More Fuel On Druski’s Viral NASCAR Stunt

Druski’s viral NASCAR ‘American Patriot’ skit has stirred controversy. Although the skit certainly has a lot of people laughing, it’s become a heated talking point as well, with some questioning if it’s right to go this far with his look.

The video sees Druski appear in full makeup covering his body to make his skin white, along with a mullet and farmer’s overalls outfit. The 30-year-old comedian proudly belts out his version of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USA” while he chugs beers and smokes without worry.

Many people have been debating whether Druski has crossed lines again for the sake of comedy. Theo Von’s comments didn’t help either, as he seems to be preparing for a skit dressed as a black man. Some people feel that if Von decides to do blackface for a comedy skit, then it would be justified.

How The Whiteface Vs. Blackface Conversation Escalated Even Further

Druski’s comedy skit has started up an unintended whiteface vs. blackface debate amongst the people. While a lot of people are defending Druski since the skit is only meant as a parody, others have taken it as a means to push blackface as a justified move for comedy.

However, blackface has been done before as well in comedy to various degrees of humor. The most popular and perhaps the only funny example of a famous person doing blackface is Robert Downer Jr. in “Tropic Thunder,” who was lauded for his efforts.

Regardless of wherever side you land on the debate, the comedian has cracked the formula for skits in modern comedy. It should also be noted that Druski’s makeup team deserves a raise for their efforts in dressing him up as a white man.
