UFC 322 saw a huge brawl break out at Madison Square Garden. Multiple fighters were involved in the intense scuffle that caused a huge scene at the event. The bosses at Ultimate Fighting Championship don’t seem to really care too much about it after it transpired; however, the Mayor of New York surely does.
The Madison Garden event was an exciting affair that saw many thrilling fights occur. It saw Islam Makhachev get crowned as the double champ in a historic moment for the Dagestani fighter that he would never forget. However, it also saw a huge brawl break out after Makhachev’s team took it upon themselves to teach Dillon Danis a lesson.
It seems that UFC was willing to let it all go without any repercussions for anyone, but it seems that Eric Adams isn’t so forgiving. The current mayor of New York wants to make sure that the fighters involved in the wild brawl are punished for disturbing the peace at the public event.
These assaults at Madison Square Garden are completely unacceptable. The NYPD is already conducting a full investigation, and everyone responsible will be held accountable.” Eric Adams wrote on X.
A Fighter From Makhachev’s Team Could Have His Career Ruined
The brawl at Madison Square Garden went viral all over social media. It has now seemingly reached the desk of the Mayor of New York, Eric Adams, and he’s not happy at all about it.
This is bad news for Islam Makhachev’s team, who were actively involved in the brawl to lay out Dillon Danis. A few videos started circulating on social media after the brawl ended, which showed multiple people involved in the scuffle. One of the most prevalent fighters who even managed to land a couple of blows on Danis is Magomed ‘John Pork’ Zaynukov.
Zaynukov had been picking up steam as the next potential big prospect to come from the Dagestani camp. He seemed like he would pick up the torch after Makhachev, but if he’s found guilty of disturbing the peace, it would heavily affect his chances of coming into New York City once again. It would then spell disaster for him to become the next big fighting superstar in the US.
New York Doesn’t Take Too Kindly To Brawls
We’ve seen this kind of thing happen before, as New York City never lets these incidents easily slide. Conor McGregor also faced a lengthy process to avoid charges after he threw a trolley through a bus window back in 2018.
His lawyers gave it their all to have him acquitted of any charges since it would also affect his ability to travel in the US. So, Makhachev’s team might need to prepare a team of capable lawyers since Eric Adams doesn’t seem like he’s going to play around.
