WWE 2K26’s premier game mode is back and better than ever before. Universe Mode returns this year with some major improvements and quality-of-life changes that players are bound to get hooked on. This year, you can include drafts between shows, Money-in-the-Bank cash-ins, and promos have received a major revamp.
Keeping all this in mind, it’s a great time to start Universe Mode, especially if you opt for Classic Mode over Superstar Mode. To ease your transition into it, I’ve made this guide to help you get set up. Controlling one superstar is easy, managing an entire show is hard, but taking control of the entirety of the WWE? You’ll probably need some help going in.
What Is Universe Mode?

Universe Mode can seem intimidating at first glance, especially if you’ve read up about it online. A sandbox mode where you control every aspect of the WWE is an extremely daunting task. However, WWE 2K26 makes it quite simple and easy to understand; all you need to do is put in the time.
As I said, you have complete and total control of the WWE. The shows, rosters, premium live events, championships, everything. You can choose which shows to air (or remove, for that matter). Players are free to add shows like WCW Nitro, ECW, or other custom shows they like.
Next, you sort out the rosters, select which premium live events you want to see throughout the year, and finally, sliders. There’s a slider for almost everything, so you can fine-tune them to your preference.
As for the new features, you can now choose WWE Drafts as a separate event, which will allow you to switch characters between shows. Plus, money-in-the-bank cash-ins are now a thing, so defending titles just got that much harder.
WWE 2K26 Universe Mode Setup

Unlike Superstar Mode, where you make decisions as you progress, the setup is the most important part of Classic Mode. Getting into those nitty-gritty details early on will save you from major headaches and frustration later on. But I do want to put it out there; at the end of the day, Universe Mode is a sandbox game mode.
Players have complete artistic control and should not limit themselves to realism. This guide serves as a beginner course on how to get into Universe Mode and some settings that will definitely help out going forward. With that said, let’s get into the smart way to set up Universe Mode.
Picking Which Shows To Feature
The first decision you’ll be tasked with is to select the shows you want to feature in your universe. You can go as far as adding all 5 available shows (RAW, SmackDown, NXT, WCW Nitro, ECW), showcasing a single show the entire season, or even adding custom shows you like.
For starters, it would be best to go with RAW and SmackDown only. WCW Nitro and ECW both have only 3 characters each and are no longer running. NXT is a viable option, but there are some intricacies with it, such as Draft Pick. Superstars can be drafted from NXT, but not to it. This might complicate things slightly, but if you’re in the spirit of realism, go for it.
It goes without saying that custom shows will take things up a notch. While an interesting idea, it could backfire if not steered correctly. It’ll be a make-or-break moment, so make sure you’re prepared.
On the same screen, you will also need to configure the show settings. The configuration includes checking the number of matches per episode, day of airing, championships, divisions, and power rankings. One of the most important things you need to go over here is the match table.
A match table shows you all possible match types that can occur (triple threat, extreme rules, ladder matches, etc), their likelihood, an upper limit for their occurrence, genders included, and whether or not they can be championship matches. You can add or subtract match types here if there are some you don’t enjoy. On the flip side, you can always increase the chances of a particular match type taking place by increasing its chance percentage.
Rosters & Championship Titles
The next step players will need to focus on is the roster and championship titles for each show. For example, RAW has 52 participants in the base game. Some of these might be in SmackDown now. If you really want to stick to how real-life WWE operates, you can check the live rosters and make adjustments accordingly.
However, I would suggest against this if you want to keep things simple. A few superstars in different shows won’t hurt, especially if you don’t watch WWE regularly.
Once we get to championship titles, that’s where things get interesting. I definitely recommend leaving the titles where they are, but shifting around their contenders. Since you can choose multiple contenders for a title, this is a great way to put your favourite superstars in the running for those big, shiny belts.
If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like if a certain superstar (or tag team) had a shot at the title, now’s your chance to play it out. Some of the titles are currently in the hands of superstars that haven’t been released yet in the base game. No worries, though, since you can always switch them out once you unlock them through the Ringside Passes.
Do the same for all other shows you have selected before moving on.
Fixing The Yearly Calendar & PLEs
After you’re finished sorting through featured shows, it’s time to lay eyes on your calendar. Similar to roster changes, you don’t really need to mess around with the calendar if you don’t want to. The base game PLEs are assorted according to the real-world schedule and shouldn’t be much of a problem.
However, if you’re a fan of certain discontinued events, there’s an option to add new events at the very bottom. Use this feature to add any events that are not present in the catalogue.
WWE 2K26 Universe Mode also allows you to change the dates of PLEs, no. of matches per day, and the match table. Unless two PLEs are grouped very close together, I’d suggest just skipping changing anything.
You can definitely adjust the number of matches per day for events you just want to get over with. I’d suggest giving major events like WrestleMania or the Royal Rumble sufficient time since they’re the biggest nights in WWE.
Adjusting Your Sliders
The final part of your WWE 2K26 Universe Mode setup will be adjusting your sliders. Until this moment, I’ve suggested just letting things be as they are for simplicity’s sake. Sliders don’t follow the same rule.
There are numerous sliders and settings you can adjust, from those affecting the universe overall to presentation and matchmaking sliders. Each slider has a brief explanation under it to avoid confusion. Make sure to read those before making any changes.
In the universe tab, you can experiment with automatic rivalries, injuries, and tag team formations. All of these will have an impact on how your universe progresses throughout the year. Injuries, in particular, will significantly affect matchups since injured characters aren’t viable for any sort of match.
The AI announce cash-in rate is also an interesting feature introduced this year. If you keep this on, there’s a chance the AI will cash in their money-in-the-bank after a stressful championship match, so be aware of that.
You can skip the presentation tab unless you feel like changing something, although it won’t have much of an impact on the universe itself. The matchmaking tab, however, is quite extensive. But also completely subjective. Players can choose which matches to give more weightage to, which matches will have a lower recurrence, etc. This depends on you and which matches you prefer playing, so go crazy with it.
