Grinding the ranked ladder in MLB The Show 26 is addictive. You win some, you lose some, and you keep trying. But sometimes, you want to go offline and just have some fun. Luckily, the game has numerous game modes to keep you occupied, and one of them is Franchise Mode. Take over a franchise and lead it to glory. But what if you wanted to make things interesting?
Franchise Mode is the optimal game mode to try out new strategies and self-imposed restrictions. Since you have all the power, why not sell your entire starting lineup and start fresh? Or maybe you want to rebuild a team without bringing on any new talent? If these ideas interest you, you’re in luck. Today, I’m going to talk about the best Franchise Mode experiments in MLB The Show 26, so stick around to find out some insane plays.
The Best Franchise Mode Experiments

‘Training Over Trading’ Challenge
This challenge encompasses picking a low-rated team with high-potential players. You already know where I’m going with this.
You can choose a team like the Minnesota Twins or the Washington Nationals, both of which have extremely poor team ratings, but good player potential ratings. Next, you have to hire competent training staff who can help players cover their weak points. This will allow the player’s OVRs to go up. Rinse and repeat the cycle until you can top the season, and maybe even win a championship.
Don’t trade low OVR players, even if they have low potential ratings. The constraint in this challenge is that you have to make do with the team you already have, not a team you can build through the Trade Hub.
‘Simming Bonanza’ Challenge
Every time you simulate a game, I’m sure the thought crosses your mind: what if I simulated an entire season? That’s what you’re going to do here. All the gameplay will be simulated while you handle all the administrative decisions. You can’t sneak in any manual games since that would defeat the purpose of the challenge.
You’ll need to get to the top of the league simply based on your administrative changes, which is definitely a feat on its own. You can set custom sliders to control realism and make minor adjustments, but don’t turn them all the way down since that would just ensure you come out on top.
If you’re trying this challenge, don’t choose a very low-rated team. The CPU plays according to the players’ OVR, so underdog runs are less likely. Take a moderate team with a good budget, and put your managerial skills to the test.
‘Graceful Regression’ Veteran Run
Once a player hits a certain age marker, their OVR starts to nose-dive. But that’s not always the case with the new Graceful Regression system in MLB The Show 26. This system allows veteran players, like Mike Trout, to retain their stats for longer and slows down their OVR regression.
The challenge? Make a roster full of veterans on the brink of regressing and exploit the Graceful Regression system. You’ll need players who are at least 36 years old, with the Baseball IQ modifier being a plus. Next, you will train the Longevity stat that triggers this system, and allows them to keep hitting like before.
Try to pick up some strong hitters early on. This one will require a bit of prior knowledge of players aged 36 years or older, so make sure to catch up on your player catalogues beforehand. You can go for a season win or a championship win, depending on how difficult you want it to be.
‘Fog Of War’ Challenge
The final challenge I’d like to suggest today is the Fog of War challenge. Fog of War basically means going in blind, and that’s exactly what you’ll do every time you open the Trade Hub. The point of this challenge is to rely solely on trade rumours and scout reports without knowing the actual OVR of players.
You can turn off all OVR visibility in the Trade Hub and scouting screen to aid this. Scouting rumours can always be false if the player is inconsistent. Maybe he just had a bad (or good) day. Relying on this data is risky, but fun. You can use some players from your starting lineup; you don’t need to completely overhaul your team. But the more players you bring in blind, the more challenging it will be.
This also depends a lot on your scouting manager. I would suggest having a good scouting manager, since a bad one could make this challenge a lot harder. But again, the difficulty of this challenge is set by you, so do whatever feels right.
Constant grinding in Diamond Dynasty can make the game feel repetitive. If you’re getting bored with the gameplay, try out some of these franchise challenges to bring back the spark.
