I am liking the game so far. The create a player is pretty bare bones. My only gripe right now and this needs to get addressed ASAP is the computer had two Aces against me and both shots were called out but they counted. The text on the screen even said "Ace". Additionally there were a couple of other ground strokes that I hit which were clearly in but the announcer called out, but the point was awarded to me. I checked BigBen's Website but I did not see an official forum or somewhere I can report this to. I have not gotten into the Career mode as I just messed around with the tutorial and am currently playing an exhibition match.

My early impressions are not very favorable. This game doesn't look or feel like a current gen title in my opinion. I have this game on PS4 Pro and the graphics don't look great at all. I couldn't really tell from the pre release videos, but all of the real players have a very cartoonish type of look. The create a player is absolutely terrible. As far as I can tell you can only pick a preset face and there is no other way to change their facial appearance, hairstyles, etc. As for the on court gameplay it just feels kind of blah to me. I'm hoping it'll grow on me but I'm doubtful. Big Ben will need to provide a lot of post release updates or else I believe this game will be a colossal failure. I wish I hadn't pre-ordered this game and just waited for the inevitable price drop.
Seemed like it was going to disappoint - which is a shame - really want a tennis game but everything from lack of creation options and player share options to the lacking roster and terrible over priced legends edition - I don't have high hopes they will support this after release either.
Had hoped this would be good would have got in on switch and also on either ps4/xb1 but don't think I can justify getting it on any at this point.
This definitely does not have a Top Spin feel to it. With all this said I am still enjoying the game but there are some glaring issues that need to get rectified with some core components of the game. I was hoping they had Hawk Eye, sadly I have not seen this unless it's only in the Major tournaments. In the Career mode there is commentary from one of the McEnroe's but it gets really repetitive and often times he will say something that doesn't apply.
The weakest parts are the graphics, which are PS3 standard, and the non-existent player customisation. Sound is also very weak but this is getting patched later this week I believe.
It's just so confusing reading all of these previews for months (and reviews of AO) and I think I may be the only person in the world who thinks so, but out of both of these highly "generic" tennis games, AO is simply a better experience.

I have a question for you, since you have AO International Tennis: Is it possible to assign all the real created players that you can download from other people to use them as the AI players in the career mode? For example if we download Federer can we put he as the number 1 of the world before we start the career mode with any other player?
For me it seems that both games are disappointed in terms of gameplay however the customization of AO International Tennis makes it a better option. I am still thinking about buying it after a price drop.

Yeah like the first guy who replied, all your downloaded players will be in your career. Initially I think they are ranked by overall, but tourneys will start to adjust rankings based on placing in those tournaments.
I just bought both games and AO is really fun for me as even just a career mode guy, I don’t care about the trainers and cards and all that fluff. The game plays good and the options to add in real players so that you have 100+ real ones is amazing (they also have almost every name for the announcer to say during the match as well).
As for World Tennis Tour, it is really frustrating to see this. I ordered legends addition like some others and I can’t see myself ever playing the game in the state it is right now. Extremely unresponsive controls, hardly any crowd noises, and the creation/edit options are lacking greatly (and that’s putting it kindly).

Needless to say, I just ran out of patience in the very first game about the time when the CPU double-faulted twice in a row. I just quit.
I really think even Mario Tennis on the N64 plays a better game of tennis than this.

I don’t mean to advocate for another game in this forum. But maybe check out some YouTube vids of AO. It’s come along way apparently since release. I literally just finished a 3 set match as Raonic against Edmund (both community downloads) and it was the best tennis game match I’ve ever played. We each broke each other’s serve once over a 3 set match. My 28 aces were the difference (and I usually average 7-9 per match).

Thanks for the answer, friend. Being able to play all the real top 100 is something i always wanted in a tennis game, i guess AO tennis will be my choice.
I was actually able after about 1 hour of dealing with Xbox Customer Support to get a refund on the Digital Legends Edition. This game is really in a preview / Beta state. Deal breaker issues for me:
1) Online component is not functional
2) Shots that are in by up to 6 feet are called out. This is still inexcusable.
3) Horrendous commentary from McEnroe.
- The player faces and expressions need work. The graphics overall are a mixed bag and nothing to brag about.
- Unresponsive controls at times. Pressed X to return a serve to no avail, resulting in an ace for the cpu player. This happened to me 3 times in a game.
- The player roster is pretty thin. Only 4 female tennis players to choose from??
- I find myself volleying and returning the ball left and right with the cpu. It gets annoying and tiresome.
- Some awkward animations from the players and head tracking on the ball.
- At times it doesn't feel like the ball is making contact with the racket.
- The create a player is pretty bare, like someone noted earlier but this doesn't bother me as much.
I'm hoping the career mode is decent, but my early impressions are not favorable right now. I'm sorry but this game should not be priced at $60US. Not in it's current shape.

You think the Sony playstore would give me a refund too? :brickwall
Actually I did not think it was going to happen. Your suppose to only get one courtesy digital refund per year and I had one in December for something I accidentally bought for my daughter for Christmas. If you can get into a chat with Sony they may be able to assist if you explain to them the issues with the game. Let's face it we were duped. This should have been a Preview or Beta not a complete game.
Did you get the refund for the game being awful or tell them it was a mistake purchase?

Just got off the chat line and got my refund as well. Thanks for the advice, I’m psyched to play some AO Tennis later (I’ve never said that about a tennis game)

Game was unfinished and the purchase wasn't to my satisfaction and expectations. They refunded the amount as a one time good will gesture.
You say this like we have options on the ps4. How many tennis games are out there this gen? Not many lol

I did the online chat session and said it was mistakingly purchased (which is the truth since preordering from this company clearly is). Either way, not sure the reason matters and PS Store gives a once a year courtesy refund. Not sure which platform you’re playing on.

Yea that's why I got AO for ps4 and plan to get this for Switch. But given the rough start for this game may wait for sale or lower price.
1. Is it as bad as people are saying? No.
2. Is it a decent playable tennis game? Sure.
3. I find it bizarre and just plain wrong the massive disparity that exists in available men and women players in the game.
4. I do love that you can play a one off tournament even if they are unlicensed knock-offs. But not being able to create players means I don't care to play a tournament. Not with fake players.
5. The mechanics are not as bad as people say. There is far FAR worse out there. (And let's please please stop referring to Top Spin 4 as this perfect example of impeccable sports gaming. It wasn't.)
Ultimately, despite looking like less than what you'd expect in 2018, but at the same time being good enough, I'd rather play Tennis Elbow 2013 any day of the week, even with its 2D mods. Infinitely more atmosphere, infinitely more players, and it's just a better tennis game all around. But on a personal note, the lack of players and the lack of creating players that you want in the game makes this game pointless to me. Tennis is a game where you want to see real players when you play, and I know that licensing a sport that has no unifying body representing players is difficult, but even Grand Slam 2 let you make as many players as you wanted. So I'll keep playing that which I have been adding players to for four years. And my regular tennis gaming will go back as it always does to independent, self produced, little Tennis Elbow 2013.
I like the gameplay in general, i dont think its that bad.
I hope more patch are coming soon anyway.
I like to make ex. tournament using my 3 fav players ever (McEnroe, Agassi and Federer), but it bothers me that i cannot make the draw so i have to reset and try again in order to avoid the female players. Because having female players in a men tournament just kill the realism for me.
It should be an easy fix, cmon Bigben, give us this tool.
Also, even with a limited character creator, i created 2 former pro (Emilio Sanchez and MaliVai Washington).
Currently in year 2 with Sanchez, now im number 28 and i have just lost in London Grand Slam 1st round on grass vs Kyle Edmund 6-1, 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.
It was a fun game.
Also, last question:
I dont get really why they make the 4 Grand Slam being the following:
Melbourne on hard
Madrid ?? on clay
London on grass
Paris ?? on hard ??
It just doesnt make sense. Make the fictional Paris on clay instead of the Madrid one and then make a New York fictional on hard in september instead on that Paris on hard nonsense.
They already have a NY tournament but its rated just 3 stars.
and on XBOX X at least... it actually feels a lot better!!
Too little too late but still, I thought it was dead and buried!
On pc, there are new issues (stutter / dropped frames) but devs claim a hotfix for that specific issue is being deployed asap.
