Tekken 8 Reveals Kunimitsu Release Dates for Season Pass and Full Launch

She is back.

Following iKARi’s first EVO Japan win, Bandai Namco took to the stage to reveal the first gameplay trailer for Kunimitsu (or Kunimitsu II, to be more specific), the first character part of Tekken 8‘s third season, and for many, its most highly anticipated release since Armor King.

Together with the trailer below, it was revealed that Kunimitsu will arrive on June 1st, 2026, with all who purchased the game’s Season 3 Pass having access to her on May 27. In it, it was also announced that the season’s final and still mysterious DLC character will be officially revealed on May 24, during Combo Breaker 2026.

When it comes to Kunimitsu’s fighting style, this is what was revealed in the official press release:

Kunimitsu fights using swift movements and acrobatic martial arts. Furthermore, she employs special stances to surprise opponents and take the initiative in matches. While she excels at agile attacks and tricky maneuvers, precise situational awareness is crucial for effectively utilizing her stances. She offers a deeply rewarding gameplay experience, recommended for players who enjoy unique, ninja-like actions and those who prioritize precise control and mind games in their playstyle.

Through the press release, developers also revealed new details regarding her Tekken 8 storyline and connection to Reina. According to it, Kunimitsu enrolls at Mishima Polytechnical School for a particular assignment, which causes her to uncover her schoolmate’s true identity. Here’s how their dynamic is summarized:

With their own secrets and equally matched abilities, the two acknowledge each other as “exploitable assets.” While outwardly pretending to be close friends, they build a dangerous relationship where they secretly investigate each other’s movements. Despite their hidden agendas, Kunimitsu and Reina generally appear to be good friends. Players may find it intriguing to imagine the conversations they have.

Tekken 8 Season 3 Release Schedule

As you could see above, after Kunimitsu’s release in early June, Bob will be arriving in Summer 2026 as the second Season 3 DLC character for Tekken 8. Roger Jr is then expected to debut in Autumn, with the mysterious fourth character arriving during the Winter of 2026.

Whether the latter will be a unique Tekken 8 arrival (like Miary Zo) or a new crossover pick is still a mystery, although I continue to believe that, no matter how small the possibility, Final Fantasy VII‘s Tifa would be a match made in heaven for the franchise. It’s also worth noticing that the character will come with its own stage.
