Travis Kelce did not mince words after an at-home mishap left a piece of furniture broken and his fiancée potentially unimpressed. While recording an episode of his New Heights podcast, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end leaned back too far, cracked a chair, and immediately joked that Taylor Swift would not be pleased. The moment, captured on a preview clip for the February 4 episode, shows Kelce laughing one second and scrambling to recover his balance the next.
According to the New Heights podcast, the incident unfolded as Kelce reacted to a joke from his brother and co-host Jason Kelce. As the chair tipped backward and snapped loudly, Jason blurted out a concerned expletive and asked if his brother was alright. Travis quickly reassured him before adding the now-viral line, “Taylor’s gonna kill me,” a quip that instantly made the rounds online.
The chair mishap was not the first time Kelce has joked about being in hot water with Swift on the podcast. In January, he made a similar remark after failing to catch a reference connected to her 2025 song “Wood,” a track that fans believe includes a cheeky nod to him. During that episode, producer Brandon Borders explained the lyric “New Heights of manhood” as a Life of a Showgirl reference tied to the brothers’ brand.
Travis Kelce Has A History With Taylor Swift’s Easter Eggs
Jason admitted he is not particularly sharp when it comes to Swift’s Easter eggs, while Travis owned up to missing the meaning entirely. He later clarified that he does pick up on many of the double entendres in the song, even if some fly past him in real time. The discussion veered into nervous laughter when Kelce confessed he was not looking forward to the day his father, Ed Kelce, hears certain lyrics in full, particularly “love was the key that opened my thighs,” sung by Taylor. Taylor also achieved a big career milestone in music recently that got her a lot of attention.
Despite the embarrassment, Kelce was clear about his feelings. He described the track as a great song and said he loves Swift deeply, adding that he feels honored anytime she references him in her music.
Kelce and Swift’s relationship first became public in the fall of 2023, when Swift attended several Chiefs games and was frequently shown cheering from the stands.
By 2024, the relationship appeared increasingly serious. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce officially confirmed their engagement on August 26, 2025, sharing a joint Instagram post that read, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” While the final wedding date is still to be announced, a lot of rumors regarding it are still causing controversy.
