'Take me off': Eagles Hall of Famer is ready to walk away from the franchise forever, all because of one man

That’s quite an ultimatum.

Eagles Hall of Famer LeSean McCoy just gave the team a serious warning. He wants offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo fired right away, or he wants his name taken off the team’s Hall of Fame. McCoy played six seasons in Philadelphia from 2009 to 2014. He’s clearly upset with how badly the offense has struggled this season, even though the team won the Super Bowl before.

According to Sports Illustrated, McCoy didn’t hold back when he spoke during a recent broadcast. He directly challenged owner Jeffery Lurie and said, “If he’s back, I’m leaving the Eagles.” When someone reminded him he’s a Hall of Famer, McCoy doubled down. He said, “Take me off. Nobody has ever asked. I’m going to say, ‘Mr. Lurie, it’s either me or Kevin!'” That’s definitely one way to get the team’s attention.

This happened after the Eagles lost to the Chargers 22-19 in overtime on Monday Night Football. It was their third loss in a row. While the whole offense has been struggling for weeks, quarterback Jalen Hurts took most of the blame for this loss.

Hurts had the worst game of his entire career

Hurts threw four interceptions and lost one fumble, which means five total turnovers. His passer rating dropped to just 31.2, which is terrible when the highest possible score is 158.3. This wasn’t just a simple mistake.

Hurts made history in the worst way possible. He became the first player since 1978 to turn the ball over twice on the same play. He threw an interception that the Chargers fumbled, then Hurts got the ball back but immediately fumbled it away himself.

The game ended in overtime when the Eagles were already close enough to kick a field goal. Instead of taking the easy points, Hurts threw into double coverage and got intercepted by safety Tony Jefferson. Game over. After the game, Hurts admitted he played poorly. He said, “I didn’t play well enough. Too many turnovers. Lots of opportunities, especially when we get on the other side of the 50, and I wasn’t able to get us in the box.”

But McCoy and the fans aren’t just upset about Monday’s game. The offense has been terrible all season. Since their bye week, they’ve only averaged 16.2 points per game. They haven’t scored more than 21 points in their last five games. The last time the Eagles went five straight games without reaching 21 points was 20 years ago.

Patullo got promoted before this season started, and fans have been blaming him for everything. The anger got so bad that in December, police confirmed someone egged Patullo’s house after the team lost to the Bears. Fans have been vocal about their frustrations all season, similar to how 100,000 people petitioned against Bad Bunny performing at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Teams know Hurts isn’t playing well, so they’re focusing more on stopping Barkley. The offensive line has also been dealing with injuries, and they’ve been missing right tackle Lane Johnson for the last three games.

Despite everything, the Eagles are still in first place in the NFC East with an 8-5 record. Their remaining schedule is pretty easy, with two games against the 3-10 Commanders and one game against the 2-11 Raiders.

Even after the five-turnover disaster, Hurts still has his teammates’ support. Running back Saquon Barkley said his confidence in Hurts is still “High.” Wide receiver A.J. Brown defended Hurts too, saying they’re all in this together. Barkley recently opened up about the team’s sideline energy after fans booed them off the field.
