The 28-year-old actress is currently on a media run promoting her newest film, Christy. The David Michôd-directed sports biopic tells the story of iconic female 90s boxer, Christy Martin.
The film shows Martin’s rise to stardom and her struggles with the people around her. The biopic boasts an inspiring turn from Sweeney, who portrays her with true grit and fire while still maintaining her innocent, feminine presence. The Euphoria star had trained hard for the role and put on 35 lbs of muscle to transform into one of the most influential female boxers.
Sweeney recently admitted in an interview that she fell in love with the sport. She stated that she started considering whether she should sign up for a real fight. The Hollywood heartthrob wouldn’t be opposed to doing an actual charity bout sometime.
“There was a moment in the middle of filming where I was like, ‘Should I give it all up and fight because I love this?'” Sweeney said. “Christy told me, ‘Sign me up,’ so this isn’t as hypothetical as you think it is. Yeah, I’d totally do a charity bout.”
Claressa Shields Is Willing To Train Her
