Bring your baseball on the go with Super Mega Baseball 2: Ultimate Edition by Metalhead Software, now that the critically acclaimed baseball game is coming to Nintendo Switch on July 25 for $29.99 USD. The Ultimate Edition on Nintendo Switch includes the complete set of Super Mega Baseball 2 content, fully featured online play, and runs at 60 fps in both docked and handheld modes.

Whether a rookie or baseball purist, Super Mega Baseball 2: Ultimate Edition packs a mode for everyone. Compete in ranked Pennant Race mode (1v1), dominate friends in arranged matches (1v1, 2v1, 2v2), or take on the AI (solo, local co-op, online co-op) – all kept fair by Ego, the genre’s most flexible difficulty system.

The Ultimate Edition will also arrive on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam as a new bundle for $29.99 USD, alongside a price reduction of the base version and its DLCs.

“We’ve thought for a long time that Super Mega Baseball 2 would be a fantastic fit for the Switch and our community has told us the same,” said Metalhead Co-Founder Scott Drader. “We’re hyped to finally reveal that Nintendo users will soon have their hands on it.”

Super Mega Baseball 2 received numerous “Sports Game of the Year” nods last year and comes to the Nintendo Switch with no compromises:

  • Fully featured online play including cooperative season play and competitive cross-platform matchmaking via the game’s Pennant Race mode.
  • 60 fps gameplay in both docked and handheld modes.
  • Single Joy-ConTM support for intense shared screen head-to-head and cooperative play.
  • Includes all content previously released as DLC on other platforms.

Super Mega Baseball 2: Ultimate Edition will be available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam on July 25.

  1. I've been looking for a reason to get this on my PS4 and this Ultimate Edition might just do it.
I have it on my Xbox One S, but I got rid of Xbox Live and I have to have it to play SMB2 due to getting it as an XBox Live game.
So I bought RBI 19 baseball for the switch and after game 70 it crashes so I emailed rbi and they asked to to try and clean cache still it would not load  on my saved franchise so they said you have to erase it and start over and I said well then there is no guarantee this won’t happen again what happens if it happens after 159 games. So I asked for a refund so I could purchase mega baseball  still waiting for a response. I thought technology was supposed to get better I still play my tony Larissa baseball on my Sega with no problems
thinking of picking this up for Switch.
QUESTION: are you able to use custom team in Pennant Race IE can I make the Expos logo and use their aesthetic?
From what I gather I might be able to, but won't be able to use the custom players on the team.

Yes, you can pick a default team and edit them to have the Expos logo and uniforms. You can also edit the players, but you can't change their ratings or throw/bat hand.

So I can use the Expos online in pennant race? Sweet!
gonna pick it up now when it comes out!
Just so you're aware, I don't know if Switch has an achievements/trophy system of any kind, but custom teams/seasons/modes often preclude the ability to unlock most of those items.
Regardless, custom season is the only way I play homie.

No trophies/achievements for Nintendo, which I personally am a big fan of.
SMB2 plays so well on Switch in both docked and handheld mode.
