Stone Cold Steve Austin’s Unfortunate Situation Cost Him A Dream Match With CM Punk. The WWE Legend Claimed That ‘Not Everything Can Happen’

A dream match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk couldn't happen.

Stone Cold Steve Austin has shared the ring with many WWE icons and superstars in the professional wrestling business, but the fans have been begging to see him against one, CM Punk. The thought of a dream match often comes from something that might never happen, but the fans really wish it would.

At times, these sorts of dream matches can come true with enough hype and the right timing behind it. However, in this case, it never did, not for some lack of trying. Steve Austin has now opened up about why a match between him and Punk never happened.

The Texas Rattlesnake made an appearance on INSIGHT with Chris Van Vliet and got asked about the dream match tease between him and Punk. He revealed that several dream matches never happened, but in that situation, it couldn’t happen because he had recently gone through an ACL and PCL injury. It was the unfortunate reason that upper management decided not to hassle the WWE legend any further.

“It was teased at one time, we were promoting a video game, and I think I just had an ACL, PCL [surgery]. Maybe it was teased, but it just never happened, just like me and Hogan never [happened]. Many things never happened. There’s so much good sh*t that did happen. Not everything can happen,” Austin said.

Austin Last Wrestled At WrestleMania 38

Stone Cold Steve Austin has once again stepped out of the ring and is enjoying his retirement. However, he surprised everyone a few years back after making a huge comeback in the ring at WrestleMania 38.

Kevin Owens had been consistently riling up the fans, especially Texans, for some time at that point. It seems the Texan Rattlesnake took some deep offense to all of his mocking, as he came out to fight him at WrestleMania 38.

The two brawled in the ring, at ringside, in the crowd, and absolutely battered each other. Steve Austin looked amazing as well, considering he was in his late 50s at the time. Even though we don’t think he’ll stomp a mudhole into someone else again, he claims that he could go in the ring four years after his last match against Owens.

Many Fans Hoped To See Steve Austin Vs. CM Punk

The fans have been hoping to see a dream match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and CM Punk for ages. Both stars represent cool anti-heroes that always want to stick it to the authority and aren’t afraid of getting their hands dirty.

Their attitude felt real, even if it was edgy, and the fans loved them for it. Both megastars are also among the best to pick up a microphone and are often regarded as the best talkers in the business. Many fans would’ve paid big numbers to see them even speak across the ring from another, let alone fight.

However, it unfortunately never came to pass, and it seems like it never might. Steve Austin is currently 61 years old, and we’re not sure he would ever get in the ring at that age. Even though stranger things have happened in the professional wrestling industry, it’s quite an unlikely scenario now.
