During a segment on the popular sports talk show First Take,  Smith strongly dismissed the idea that the team is falling apart or that the playoffs are out of reach. His firm belief is that the Chiefs are still among the elite teams in the entire league, despite their current uncertain standing.

Smith went as far as to declare that the Chiefs are most likely to make the Super Bowl again than they are to miss the playoffs. This extremely confident take has energized and fired up fans of the team who are looking for reasons to remain hopeful during a difficult and frustrating stretch of the season.

“Their backs are against the wall. I think they respond the way champions do, and they remind everybody who the hell they are,” Smith said.

Smith Has A Strong Belief In The Chiefs

Stephen A. Smith’s strong support for the Chiefs comes from his view that they are a true, proven championship-level organization. He believes their recent difficulties, which include losing several close games by seven points or less, are nothing more than temporary issues that the team will fix.

Smith believes that the team’s current challenging situation, with their backs against the wall, will ultimately force them to play their best, most inspired football. He thinks this sudden adversity will be exactly what they need to remind the rest of the NFL of their true champion status.

His declaration of the team potentially responding the way champions do clearly shows the belief Smith has in the Chiefs. This strong endorsement suggests he views their current struggles as a major motivating factor, not a sign of lasting weakness.

The Chiefs Want Revenge For Last Season

The Kansas City Chiefs entered this season with a clear goal of revenge after a heartbreaking end to their previous campaign. The team had fallen just short of achieving a historic milestone, winning a third consecutive Super Bowl, a feat that would have cemented their place in NFL history.

The motivation for the team is especially strong because of the way they lost the Super Bowl last year. After having remarkable luck in the regular season, winning an unbelievable 12 games in a row decided by only one score, they were completely beaten in the final game by a score of 40-22.

Now, the roles have completely reversed, as the Chiefs have been losing many of their games decided by close margins. This difficult turn of events feels like karma to some analysts, but the team’s desire to bounce back,  prove their dominance, and get their revenge remains fierce.
