Sports Titles Crowd the Top 10 as Battlefield 6 Takes Top Spots in October Sales

Despite Battlefield's domination, sports titles are still selling like hotcakes.

Between big titles like EA FC 26 and Battlefield 6, and the $55 billion leveraged buyout, 2026 has been a critical year for EA. Out of the top 10 selling games from October, three of them are games from EA: FC 26 (#5), Battlefield 6 (#1), and Madden 26 (#6). It’s great to see sports titles getting the love, because October was full of other heavy hitters like Ghost of Yōtei, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and The Outer Worlds 2

NBA 2K26 found itself at the fourth spot on the list, while College Football 26 landed at number 12. The list was compiled by Circana, an American global market research company (h/t GamesIndustryBiz).

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 released to mixed reviews (the Metacritic user score is unbelievably low). EA was essentially given an alley-oop by Activision for Battlefield 6, so it was bound to be a success, given that so many enjoyed the Open Beta back in August. I know we don’t talk about FPS games here, but the fact that it’s the best-selling game of 2025 so far, it at least deserves a mention.

Circana’s report also underscores how strong mobile spending and Switch 2 hardware sales pushed overall US games spending by 3%. In the last month alone, consumer spending amounted to $4.9 billion. Of course, to us, it’s the spread of sports games in the best-selling list that really stands out.

FC 26, Madden 26, and NBA 2K26 all charted inside the top six, with College Football 26 just outside the top 10. That is four major sports titles in the top 12 during a packed release window. It just goes to show how resilient these annual and seasonal sports franchises are. Launching alongside prestige single-player games and big RPGs doesn’t affect them much in terms of sales.

For EA, this is exactly the outcome that their new buyout investors will want to see. Battlefield 6 proves that the Battlefield franchise still has blockbuster pull, while FC and Madden continue quietly printing money through Ultimate Team and long-tail engagement.
