Cunningham suffered the injury during the Fever’s versus Connecticut Sun game on Sunday, August 17, 2025. She went down with an apparent knee injury during the first half, which led to her missing the rest of the season. The female star tore her MCL; however, she is expected to be ready by the start of the 2026 WNBA season.

Despite this major setback, the Indiana Fever star seems to be enjoying her time out as she posted a stunning video in a bikini lip-syncing and dancing to Renee Rapp’s “I Think I Like You Better When You’re Gone.”

Sophie Cunningham’s Video Has Fans Talking Off The Court

The cheerful and attractive video of Cunningham has grabbed the eyes of the fans. They are delighted after seeing their favorite player seemingly provide them with an indirect positive update on her recovery.

However, some were quite skeptical about her video. They labelled the Indiana Fever star as “mid” as well as “outdated.” The hatred of her video was truly surprising as the fans didn’t hold back.

The WNBA star doesn’t seem to be bothered by it as she focuses on recovering from her injury. She continues to post content that she enjoys making during her time away from active competition.  However, her WNBA colleagues certainly seem to be enjoying this type of content from her, namely, Caitlin Clark.

She’s Showing Confidence And Strength Despite The Injury

Many players would lose confidence after being taken out of the action for the rest of the season. It doesn’t seem to be the case for Cunningham as she’s oozing with confidence.

The female star has declared she’s coming for the rest of the league upon her return from injury. She shared a selfie on Instagram, stating that she finally feels like herself again and warned the competition to watch out for her as she focuses on her road to recovery.

It would certainly be a sight to see once Sophie Cunningham heals and makes her return from injury. She was having her best year in the game before being sidelined.

Cunningham was averaging 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game before tearing her MCL. She played 30 games and started 13 of them before the injury. It wouldn’t be a surprise if she picks up right from where she left off.
