Should Madden 27 Add X-Factors for Kickers and Offensive Linemen?

They matter, too!

Madden 26 is full of plenty of X-Factor and Superstar abilities, but fans are starting to explore some new ideas for the next entry, Madden 27. A recent post on the r/Madden subreddit explores the idea of finally giving Offensive Linemen and Kickers their moment in the sun. While linemen already have Superstar abilities like Edge Protector and Post Up, they still lack true X-Factors.

Can This Ambitious Idea Work?

The strength in the X-Factor system lies in its ability to reward elite play with signature abilities, and they can often be a game-changer. Every linebacker, receiver, and pass-rusher has these traits—but offensive linemen and kickers are left out. Madden players point out that linemen deserve traits reflecting real-life impact, with one user noting how centers/guards don’t allow sacks or make pancake blocks yet never receive an X-Factor.

Linemen like Trent Williams or Zack Martin can dominate games just as much as a star receiver. An OL X-Factor could add some interesting depth to Franchise mode. For example, they can add an X-Factor that temporarily guarantees a block win or boosts Impact Blocking on key plays. This can be triggered either after several clean pass-blocking snaps or multiple successful run plays.

For kickers, the X-Factor may be more about high-pressure moments. They could use an X-Factor that rewards consistency and clutch play. For example, three consecutive field goals of 45+ yards might trigger a 10-yard distance boost or better accuracy.

A lot of fans in the same thread were asking for deeper player development beyond new abilities. Some suggest adding breakout opportunities for offensive linemen and more ways to upgrade Dev Traits (Star, Superstar, X-Factor). Potential issues could be that stacking multiple X-factor linemen will get too OP, and designing meaningful triggers and balance for the kickers would be a bit tricky too.
