Seattle cruised to an 11-4 win over the Athletics, powered by Cal Raleigh’s two towering home runs. But one of the night’s most memorable moments came off the field, when the broadcast cut to a young fan enjoying a popcorn bucket nearly as big as he was.

The video has amassed over a million views on X, garnering tons of reactions from fans. Even the Mariners’ broadcast crew joined in on the fun, with one commentator joking that the kid burying his face in the popcorn bag was a fitting metaphor for what was happening during the game.

“That is what it feels like right now to be this Mariners lineup through three innings.”

Why A Popcorn Bucket Turned Into A Viral Backlash

After the popcorn dive went viral, fans had plenty to say. Some worried about the safety of a toddler tackling such a massive snack, pointing out the potential choking hazard. Others debated whether his parents should’ve let him go at it in the first place, given his obvious young age.

And while the nutritional details of the popcorn aren’t known, other ballparks have proudly advertised the staggering calorie counts of their jumbo servings, adding another layer onto the already odd conversation.

They labeled it as an “incredibly dangerous” move that most parents seemingly aren’t aware of. However, this child’s parents seem to be okay with their kid going viral, as the positive comments outweigh the negative ones in this situation.

How A Lighthearted Moment Sparked Surprisingly Harsh Reactions

The alarming reactions to the kid eating his popcorn have gone viral on X. Many have made some controversial statements about the young child enjoying the game while having his snack.

It’s truly worrying to see how some make these comments about a young kid; however, the fan could have tweeted this in a sarcastic tone. Social media has all types of people, so who knows? Deciphering intent on social media is a fool’s errand.

While many enjoy the kid going viral, this fan has raised questions about the cameraman filming the child without his consent and seemingly taking advantage of his age. However, the situation doesn’t seem to be nearly as complicated as fans have made it on social media. The child’s parents don’t seem to have a problem with their kid going viral, either, so that tells you a lot about the situation.
