Ram Trucks is set to make its return to NASCAR in 2026, and it’s doing so with a plan that’s never been tried before in the sport. Rather than signing a driver through the traditional development pipeline, Ram is handing the final seat at Kaulig Racing to a reality TV competition, a bold, and frankly unusual, approach in a sport that usually values patience and pedigree.
According to Heavy.com, the series, titled Race For The Seat, will run for eight episodes and feature 15 drivers battling for a single full-time ride in the 2026 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. The winner won’t just get a trophy or a contract; they’ll earn the chance to race a Ram 1500 for an entire season, representing the brand’s long-awaited return to the Truck Series.
Ram isn’t going it alone, either. The project is a collaboration with Kaulig Racing, which will serve as Ram’s flagship factory team, and UFC CEO Dana White, who is helping produce the show. White’s involvement adds another layer of intrigue, blending NASCAR with the high-drama, elimination-style format more commonly associated with combat sports and reality television.
This competition will test drivers both on and off the track
The 15 drivers will face challenges that test their speed, racing skills, preparation, and ability to stay calm under pressure. The competition happens at places like Virginia International Raceway and South Boston Speedway. Cameras will also follow drivers when they’re not racing to see how they handle themselves and work with their teams.
The winner will join a team that already has Brenden “Butterbean” Queen, Daniel Dye, and Justin Haley. Kaulig Racing’s five-truck lineup had one open spot listed as “Free Agent” until Ram announced this reality show would fill it. Much like how Tyreek Hill recently hinted about his NFL future, these NASCAR hopefuls are keeping their eyes on career opportunities.
Actor Jacob Lofland will host the series, which is made by Thrill Sports Productions. Dana White, Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, and Kaulig Racing owner Matt Kaulig will appear as judges and give commentary during the show. The reality show format brings sports competition to television in a way that Angel Reese’s cryptic social media posts have shown athletes engaging with fans.
“Ram is an iconic American brand, and I’m excited to partner up with them for their new reality series, Race for the Seat, White said. This reality show is all about finding up-and-coming drivers and giving them a massive platform. The best always rise to the top in this type of competition. We are going to find the next generation of superstars for the NASCAR truck series.”
Kuniskis said the show proves Ram is doing things differently in NASCAR. He explained that talent alone isn’t always enough and that many successful careers start with getting the right opportunity. He added that White knows how to build champions, which makes the competition even more intense. They’re looking for someone with heart, hustle, the right attitude, and a strong desire to win.
