Straight4 Studios has released Project Motor Racing update 2.0.0.2 today with a focus on improving overall stability and performance while also reworking and rebalancing AI opponents. The update also builds on the throttle response model introduced previously, expanding the changes across additional car classes as the system continues to evolve.
What started as a targeted change for select car classes has now expanded, bringing a more natural and connected feel between driver input and what the car delivers on track. The team leaned on real-world data to better understand how engines produce torque and power across different throttle inputs and RPM ranges. Instead of a simple linear relationship, the updated system reflects how real engines behave, where partial throttle can still generate a large portion of available power and response changes depending on engine speed. The result is quicker, sharper response at lower RPM and a smoother, more controlled build as revs climb, eliminating the unrealistic ability to push toward redline under light throttle.
Each car now carries more of its own personality as well. Whether it is the slower, more deliberate response of a turbocharged setup or the immediate punch of a naturally aspirated engine, the differences are easier to feel. On track, that translates to better control coming out of corners, improved traction management and a more intuitive sense of how the car will react. Even at a standstill, revving the engine highlights the added precision, making it easier to hold RPM and carry that same level of control into actual driving situations.
Following a recent free to play weekend on Steam, Xbox players can now jump in as part of Free Play Days for All, which runs from today through Sunday, April 12.
