Pokémon Champions Players Report Transfer Bug With Pokémon Home

Pokémon Champions hasn’t had the best launch. The game already launched with mixed reviews, and the performance issues aren’t making it any better. But, most importantly, there have been many reports from players and even pros on Pokémon transfers from Pokémon Home.

For a game that’s aiming to be the next platform for competitive VGC, this is not a great look. Transfers from Home is a core feature that players need to be able to build good squads. Sure, you can have a rental team, but most players, especially pros, rely on their Home Pokémon to build squads.

The issue has been circulating online since the release of the game, but it really came to light when pro VGC player Justin Carris complained about the transfer issue on X, as reported by Kotaku.

Pokemon’s Are Trapped In Limbo Between Transfers

Carris explained that he faced an error while trying to transfer Pokémon from Home to Champions. Because of that error, these Pokémon are now stuck in “a limbo” according to Carris, and can’t be traded back to Home or even to Scarlet and Violet.

He then added, “If you then try to trade the Pokémon you sent to champions that gave an error, the message displays saying they are in champions and cannot be traded.”

As you’d expect, the competitive community hasn’t taken this lightly. Players have been sharing their experiences online, with some warning others to avoid transferring Pokémon into Champions entirely until a fix is confirmed.

There have been a few attempted workarounds. Some players claim that uninstalling and reinstalling Pokémon Home has helped resolve the issue, while others suggest using a more stable internet connection. However, these solutions are not working for everybody.

If you’re playing Pokémon Champions, the safest move right now is simple: hold off on transferring any important Pokémon from Home. Until there’s confirmation that the issue has been resolved, it’s probably not worth the risk.

This is probably just one of those early launch problems that most popular games face. The best bet is to just wait until they fix it, because they probably will, considering how major this issue is.
