'Please stop asking/talking to me about her… IMPOSSIBLE': Sophie Cunningham fires back at fan with perfect response

She drew the line pretty clearly.

Sophie Cunningham had the perfect comeback for a fan who said she only talks about Caitlin Clark to get more attention. The whole thing started when a clip from Cunningham’s podcast Show Me Something was posted on Instagram, and some people weren’t happy about it.

According to Sportskeeda, one fan called out Cunningham and told her to stop mentioning the Indiana Fever guard. They commented, “Sophie Cunningham, stop talking about CC challenge [IMPOSSIBLE].” Cunningham didn’t hold back and gave a brilliant response. She replied, “Please stop asking/talking to me about her… IMPOSSIBLE.” That shut things down pretty quickly.

So why was Cunningham even talking about Clark? She was discussing Project B, a new international basketball league starting in November 2026. Cunningham has already signed up to play in this league and wants the best players to join too.

Cunningham knows the WNBA is still the main stage for women’s basketball

On her podcast, Cunningham talked about how important the WNBA still is, even with new leagues popping up. She said the WNBA is the foundation for everything. “All these leagues are great, but at the end of the day, if you don’t have the WNBA, you don’t have the platform,” she explained. Without the WNBA, players wouldn’t have the same visibility or recognition.

But Cunningham actually did try to get Clark to join Project B. She admitted she reached out to the biggest star in women’s basketball, even though she knew it was unlikely. “I tried to get her (Caitlin Clark) to play in Project B,” Cunningham said. “She was like, ‘No.'” At least she tried. Cunningham has been making headlines lately for her bold comments on various topics.

Project B is offering players way more money than the WNBA, which makes it very appealing. The league also gives players a chance to travel and compete internationally, making it hard to ignore.

The new league has already signed several big names, showing that players want options beyond the WNBA. Cunningham will play alongside stars like Alyssa Thomas, Jewell Loyd, Jonquel Jones, Kamilla Cardoso, Kelsey Mitchell, Li Meng, and Janelle Salaun.

Clark, who is the biggest name in basketball right now, has stayed loyal to the WNBA. She’s turned down Project B and also rejected Unrivaled, the 3v3 league created by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart. Even though Unrivaled is a top choice for WNBA players in the offseason, Clark isn’t interested.

In fact, Clark previously rejected a massive offer to stay with the league. But the WNBA could still lose top players if it doesn’t improve pay and conditions in the current negotiations. Project B signing Nneka Ogwumike, who leads the players union, shows just how serious the competition is becoming.
