The box stored in a cave 150 feet below the ground in SubTropolis, Kansas City, doubles as the world’s largest underground business complex. The 1,260-acre space, developed by Lamar Hunt, was created through the mining of a 270-million-year-old limestone deposit.

In a recent episode of ESPN docuseries, The Kingdom, directed by Kristen Lappas, Travis Kelce, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, and others were captured exploring the underground 1,260-acre space.

Mahomes was caught off guard by the entire experience and seemed mesmerized as he walked through the space. He reflected on how he’s been here for eight years and never knew of a random entrance that was present in the underground cave.

The Chiefs Keep Their History Locked In An Underground Vault

The Kansas City Chiefs have kept their rich history locked and preserved for a long time. After the release of The Kingdom on August 14, they unveiled the exclusive look inside SubTropolis.

Within the caves lie the Chief’s archives and the memorabilia of its entire existence, which are guided by the team historians Bob Moore and Mike Davidson. The items were developed by the founder of the Kansas City Chiefs, Lamar Hunt, who founded the team in 1959.

The Kingdom that shows off the Chiefs’ individual place in the NFL’s landscape is produced by Words + Pictures in association with Skydance Sports, NFL Films, 2 PM Productions, and Foolish Club Studios.

Patrick Mahomes’ Reaction Shows Just How Surprising It Really Is

Patrick Mahomes shared how he’s been a part of the Kansas City Chiefs for eight years, but never knew the items in SubTropolis existed. It really is surprising, as the news has managed to grab major headlines and gives you an almost surreal look into the history of their team.

Travis Kelce himself has revealed that he plans on adding more to the box after he visits the underground cave with Patrick Mahomes. The two were left stunned after seeing the cave during their visit. They were also joined by defensive star Chris Jones and head coach Andy Reid.

It is certainly exciting to predict what Kelce and Mahomes plan on adding to the historic underground cave as The Kingdom docuseries continues to show the Kansas fans the rich history of the franchise. The docuseries is a great way to explain the importance of the club to the young up-and-comers.
