New details have come out about former New York Giants cornerback Sam Beal, who has been missing for seven months. Records show he spent five months in a Michigan prison just before he disappeared. He was locked up from September 2024 to February 2025 for not paying child support.
Beal’s sister, Essence Zhane, has been trying hard to get help finding her brother. According to The Daily Mail, she recently wrote on Facebook, “Tomorrow makes it 7 months since we’ve last heard from or seen my brother. We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together and at this point we’re in desperate need of support on all ends.”
A witness told police that Beal seemed “a little off” after getting out of prison. The witness said Beal had stopped taking his medication because he “didn’t like the way it made him feel.” The witness remembered something very troubling that Beal said: “If I was gone nobody would even care.”
Beal’s disappearance raises serious concerns about his well-being
Beal was last seen on July 12. He dropped his girlfriend off at her home and was supposed to take her car to work, according to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System. He never showed up for his shift. He later called his girlfriend and said he was going back to Virginia Beach, where the car was found.
Police think Beal only took the clothes he was wearing, sandals, and his wallet with his bank card and driver’s license. He left his shoes and socks on the passenger seat, which suggests he left in a hurry with very little. Like other high-profile cases that have sparked intense debate online, Beal’s situation has gained attention from the public.
This wasn’t the first time Beal had run into legal trouble. Back in August, he failed to meet with his probation officer, prompting the officer to reach out to his family in an effort to locate him. His legal history goes further back: in 2021, Beal pleaded guilty to two gun-related charges and later admitted to possession of marijuana. Despite repeated attempts, police have so far been unable to make contact with him, leaving questions about his whereabouts and compliance with the law.
The 29-year-old was drafted in the third round out of Western Michigan. His NFL career with the Giants only lasted two seasons. He chose not to play during the 2020 COVID-19 season. While sports fans have been following other recent stories, including Djokovic’s sarcastic reaction to heckling, Beal’s family continues searching for answers.
