Fresh off the completion of the 4 Nations Face-Off which was contested between the United States, Sweden, Finland, and eventual champions Canada, NHL 25 has made a timely update to provide a more stable and true-to-life experience when playing the game.
Most of the changes brought in Patch 1.5.0 are cosmetic, with several AHL, ECHL, and Canadian Hockey League jerseys being added — five to be exact. EA must’ve been watching the 4 Nations games pretty closely too, as they’ve also updated the AI forecheck behavior. The United States displayed a penchant for forechecking against Canada in their first matchup, which ended in a 2-1 victory to the States. The game also captured national headlines due to it being a close affair and marred in hostility. After the home Canadian fans booed the singing of the United States national anthem pregame, three fights broke out between the two teams in the span of (checks notes) nine seconds to begin the game.
There is also in-game art to signify Todd McLellan being the coach of the Detroit Red Wings. McLellan took over the team during the Christmas season after former coach Derek Lalonde was fired after over three years of being in charge.
