NHL 22 Roster Sharing Coming in December - Franchise Mode and Be a Pro Video & Details

NHL 22 roster sharing is coming in December. That’s huge news and something the community has been requesting for years. The post-launch update will allow custom roster creators the ability to share their rosters throughout the community and import them into Franchise Mode.

  • Users can “Like” a roster so it can become a higher rated roster
  • It will show how many times a roster has been downloaded
  • Users can search for specific files, most downloaded, most liked, etc.
  • Creators can edit players, create new players, change ratings, attributes, X-Factors

Roster creators can actually start creating their rosters when the game launches and upload them to the community once the roster sharing update goes live. Once again, the team is currently working hard to stay true to a December release date, so let’s hope they come through.

The team also provided Franchise Mode and Be a Pro Mode details in the latest deep dive video. Information on X-Factor Archetypes, Be a Pro Abilities, conversation system and storylines are included in the first half of the video. The rest of the video discusses the expanded likeability and legacy meter, Seattle Kraken and expansion, X-Factor scouting and X-Factor line chemistry. Make sure to check it out and post your thoughts.

For those of you looking for NHL 22 Hockey Ultimate Team details, those are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, October 6.

The Standard Edition of NHL 22 releases on October 15 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The X-Factor Edition launches 3 days earlier and includes bonus in-game content. The NHL 22 trial arrives for EA Play and Xbox Game Pass on October 7.

  1. "Roster Sharing, is something we've wanted for a long time"
So much so that it's coming as a post content update two months after launch. Cool to see, but I just hate that they charge $70 for an unfinished game. One of the major downsides of gaming in the last decade or so
This whole video was about the integration of X-Factors in both modes. I can't believe I'm gonna sucker myself into buying this
I'm pretty disappointed there's literally 0 additions to franchise mode, but then I remembered MLB The Show has not added a single thing to franchise mode in 3-4 years and NHL's is overall OK and I do really enjoy it. I do like that there is a bottom line with scores/stats/etc. now so that's something. Also I saw on the expansion draft that there is a NMC listed, so maybe those are in?
Roster sharing coming in December is LOL. It's file sharing, not rocket science. But really glad it's coming in. I'm thinking I may start an expansion franchise around release and wait until December to download good rosters from people here. I have to think custom rosters could really help fix some legacy issues in the game.

If I was on last-gen I wouldn't bother until it goes on sale at Black Friday. As a PS5 guy I think it's worth getting simply because I think last year's game was fun and this one looks pretty good overall. The gameplay video from last week looked solid to me.
Also I had enough Gamestop credit to get the game for free so definitely worth it:lol:
Roster sharing and a score/stat ticker which is actually a low key sweet feature they didn't even mention!
Not a lot of changes to franchise but if the gameplay is solid and hopefully we get more face scans this year it could be a good game. I love the new in game stat visuals that pop up on ice etc I hope they are used well in games.

I’m too pumped about Roster Sharing to care but you’re not wrong, I just take my small victories with EA Lmao. I won’t get the game until December though and I’m sure many on here will wait until then. There might be bugs in that update so better to wait and see first.

Also, NHL 2K10 had roster sharing (I forget if 2K9 did), to bring out the marketing line of "It's something we wanted for a long time" & finally bring it out 12 years after the last multi platform entry from the competition did is ridiculous.
Finally! Perfect timing to get it cheap with December sales
Looking forward to seeing some of the roster community take their rosters from Microsoft Excel to the actual game! This will be a great addition to the potential depth of franchise mode.
Roster sharing being in is great. The only question I have (I haven’t had a chance to watch the video yet) Will we be able to import individual players from any give roster ala MLB the show? Or will it just be a way to share a roster via an online hub? Roster sharing is cool, but if we can’t import individual players from any given roster it’s pointless to me. It sucks all realism out of Franchise when created prospects show undrafted under their player card. I know I am nitpicking, but I hope it’s more of an MLB the show type roster sharing then something like madden

Considering it’s EA….it’ll probably be like Madden so no importing individual people.

Roster share isn’t in ! They said only they will add a patch in early December. So no sense to buy for Franchise only Players now. They didn't work on anything for this mode till now. To add a 33rd Team I see not as a work. A slap in the face for every Franchise mode Player. My decisions stays. Will buy this game after they implemented Roster share as used from private. Will only use the 10 hour trial to detect the new likenesses.

Dude, why you heff to be mad all the time? By now we know that you will buy the game "in used condition from private", since you mention it in almost every post. I'm very pumped for roster sharing, even if we have to wait until december.
First off, roster sharing makes this the first pre-order I’ve had in a long time. I have one concern though.
In NHL 14, you could download roster files anywhere off the Internet and install them in your game. I still do this for NHL Legacy from Forum.
But not NHL 22. This is instead going to work the same way that MLB does: Downloading rosters in-game.
So, will the sharing server be shut down at the end of the year forcing us to buy NHL 23 to keep getting community rosters or, will it be like the show where I’m still getting rosters for the Show 20?

    I bet it's shutdown
I like the white background, the only problem is the green bars are an eyesore. :)
I doubt it will get fixed but a darker green would be much easier on the eyes.. bright colors on a light background is not appealing.
I usually make my own rosters, I was really hoping for multi team control in franchise but I guess not this year.

Roster share is all great for roster makers...
Its still a no buy for me until we get custom draft classes the default prospects are the worst in sports gaming.

You can fix the draft classes through the roster. In my NHL 2021 franchise, I simply created missing prospects from the top 25 NA and Euro scouting list and ran a few simulations to test making sure they were getting drafted around their appropriate spot. I even updated some of the 2021 and 2022 players in the game to have their attributes/potential get them drafted where they are projected and it’s panned out pretty good.
Hoping to do this in 2022 if I have the time since I had every prospect for every team created along with the 2021 and 22 first rounds done.
I too wanted the ability to play as multiple teams. But I am so excited about the roster sharing! And download every possible roster creation before its inevitable shutdown next year.
Couple things that will make or break roster sharing. One they have to get rid of those awful silhouettes for created player profile pics and default to the avatar. Two, you have to be able to edit the fake AI generated prospects from USA and Russia. No more Ruslan McNugget from North Korea!
Just wondering if you can use shared rosters in Season mode as well. There was no mention of it.
I only ask because if I replicate my set from 21, the teams aren’t deep enough to do franchise.
I made an Alumni roster where I created almost 400 CAPs so that no team had any duplicates. It was a lot of work, but all those CAPs started slowing down my PS4, so capped the teams to 15F, 8D and 3G.
They aren’t “the worlds greatest rosters !”, as far as insanely accurate player likeness or attributes, but I had a blast playing a season with them.
Hopefully Roster Sharing isn’t a Franchise mode only feature. Especially if we have to wait 2 months after release for a patch.

Damn! This is HUGE! I've been waiting for this since my last purchase which was NHL 19. I think my first project will be 26 man all-time teams (3 goalies, 8 defensemen 15 forwards per team). I look forward to sharing my work and using others' offerings as well.

So with roster sharing you can use a historic roster across a franchise if someone did create that?

Yes. I've done this in Madden over the past few years where people have rosters from the 80s and 90s. You can literally start franchise mode in 1997 and play with Barry Sanders on the Lions or John Elway on the Broncos. Absolutely love it. I just wish there was a way to mod arenas so you could play at Maple Leaf Gardens or Joe Louis Arena.

Question, cause I do not know the Madden series. Is Madden the same concept with black Silhouettes without possibility to add a pic like in NHL ? I mean for the self created Players.

I'm a control freak I want 32 team control or at least the ability to edit all teams in franchise.

Don't have faith that this will ever happen. They keep adding to their rigid Franchise Mode which shows they're committed to this single team experience that's lame and outdated imo.
