  1. They can take their childish card packs and shove them in...well you know...
    Sport games are dead.
At this point, the only hope is that they become free to play .
I can't believe there are still gamers who spend money on card packs in 2019. What a sad era for sport simulation fans.

So, looks like once again HUT is going to be the primary focus of the developers.

At the risk of sounding overly negative...it's a trend that's never going to reverse.
Until small-time developers can realistically compete with the likes of the EA's of the world, we're going to be stuck with this business model, because it prints money for the company.
Chel is their focus, and it had zero micro transactions in 19.
I had tried Be a Pro and EASHL before, and found it to be Grindr and annoying. I flipping love Chel, and may be the only way I play this game going forward. I wish I had jumped into Chel sooner.

Get used to it. HUT makes them a ton of money and is probably the primary reason this series is still around, because I doubt the sales are that massive.
Every sports game is going to focus on ultimate team from now on because that's where the cash is. It's the direction both Madden, The Show, FIFA and NHL have all gone. 2k is doing it to an extent, but their cash cow is MyPlayer.
Honestly, without Ultimate Team, we probably wouldn't have an NHL or MLB game at all, on any platform.
It definitely sucks for those of us that like Franchise mode, but we don't pay for the license fees and dev costs with our measly $60 or less contribution.

I don't care if they cater to it, but they've been completely ignoring the rest of the game for years now. Last year was my breaking point where I didn't buy NHL for the first time since whatever year it was when they released it for the first year on PS4 in what was essentially a demo version for $60. They can still put SOME effort into other parts of the game and they choose not to.
