NBA 2K26 Update Focuses on Shot Contest

2K released a new NBA 2K26 update today aimed at refining contest coverages, using both gameplay data and community feedback to guide the changes.

• Slightly reduced the impact of height mismatches on contest coverage. Shorter defenders can now generate slightly stronger contests against taller shooters.,

• Slightly increased the effectiveness of strong contests. Well-positioned and well-timed contests will further narrow the shooter’s green window more than before.

Shooting mechanics, difficulty and other core systems remain untouched with the team continuing to track games across different modes and skill levels. The update goes live automatically for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. Players just need to head back to the Main Menu to make sure the game is up to date.
