NBA 2K26 Three-Point Shooting Averages Spark Debate Among Players

This can't be right!

It’s common knowledge that NBA 2K26 has a major three-point shooting problem. The current meta is all about taking shots instead of driving plays. Everyone just goes for the same fadeaway three-pointer instead of playing the game like actual basketball.

For some, the 3-point meta feels less like a basketball simulation and more like an arcade-style launch mode. However, weirdly enough, the shooting percentage data for Season 2 claims something entirely different. On one end, there is the community complaining about how shooting is very easy and every player is spamming it; on the other, the data suggests that it’s normal or even low.

This post has sparked a debate in the comments with players disagreeing with the data and still claiming that 3-point shooting is a big problem. For context, here is the Reddit thread.

Why Players Are Upset About 3-Point Shooting In NBA 2K26

Many of the players say that what the data says and what they experience in-game is completely different. For instance, this comment pointed out:

I don’t even remember the last time I matched up against someone who shot below 50% 3pt in rec

Others are blaming new or bad players for bringing the average down. One member said,

Lower-skilled players take terrible shots and still only bring the average down to 44-45%. That’s really high with that added context.

If you have played NBA 2K26, you know the problems with the 3-point shooting. Yes, the data Mike Wang shared may be accurate on paper, but it doesn’t reflect what most players are seeing in actual gameplay. The community experience simply doesn’t line up with the reported averages, and that disconnect is fueling the debate.

On the other hand, some members say that there are a lot of bad shooters in the game. In the lower ranks, many can’t shoot accurately, which would bring the total average down. Does it explain the average experience? No, but it’s still part of it, especially for newer players.

While the data may suggest that the shooting is “fine”, the players’ experience denies it. The truth of the matter is, three-point shooting is still busted regardless of what the averages say.
