NBA 2K22 Retro Rosters: MJWizards' Classic Teams Project on PS5

I have featured the work of MJWizards before, and it’s because MJ does some of the most thorough work around on consoles. The custom content on PC is legendary (and I always recommend people head there if they want that sort of “true” experience), but console players can get some quality stuff as well. On the PS5, one of the best (and deepest) NBA 2K22 classic teams rosters comes from MJ. This NBA 2K22 retro rosters set is driven by the initial content put in the game by the 2K developers.

In short, the theme of this retro roster set is the classic teams. As of now, over 40 teams are in this set, and by MJ’s own admission, the project is about 70% complete overall. The newest team is the 2002-03 Phoenix Suns. There are 67 classic teams in total that made it into NBA 2K22, so MJ is making steady progress here.

Bottom Line

You can support MJWizards three ways:

MJ is very committed to these projects, and rarely will he ever stop before reaching his goal of finishing one. His consistency and longevity in the community is a reason why I like to showcase the work, and it’s also why so many people gravitate to what is put out by him.

The amount he’s able to pull out of the tools without needing “modding” capabilities is impressive, and you can tell he’s just a big fan of the sport. The nice part about this set is that MJ has a base to work with at times, so this one is coming along relatively quickly as well.

These rosters are fun to use in a variety of settings. For example, there are technically 67 classic teams (seven of them are LA Lakers teams), but since many of them are “duplicates” in some regards, you can chop down the list for MyNBA purposes. The only real downside of course is that these edits are only available on the PS5 due to how the 2K Share system works right now. Regardless, if you want to show some love for his work, you can hit the links above or head to the thread and show some appreciation.

COMPLETED CLASSIC TEAMS PROJECT BY MJ WIZARDS

    - Accurate info, bio, numbers for all the players
    - Accurate CAP for the missing players
    - Accurate Shoes and Accessories for all the players, no 2k shoes

    - Shot\3p tendency fix for all the players
    - Accurate Rotation for all the classic teams
    - At least 12 real players for every classic team, up to 15 if possible

    Yes please. Thank you.
I can't really get into the game until I have the players looking right. That's one of the main things I've never understood about 2K: how could you not get the classic player accessories (and maybe shoes) accurate because it's not like they're going to wear something different because of obvious reasons.
So, another user "Napjcjd" opened a thread about his version of "completed classic teams" for ps5.
Now, im wondering, since we are working at the same thing basically, should i change my plan and go ahead with a Retro Season?
    Dont know tbh

I say yes. Everybody edits the rosters a bit differently, but I feel like as long as the classic teams are filled that job is done. Maybe if the other project falls through you come back to this after a season roster.

This may sound arrogant but I'm going to be blunt:
I would love for you to go ahead with your plans. When I did classic team editing for NBA 2K11-13, I followed (the legend) portlandblazer's appearance and shoe guide to get everything accurate to the detail. I watched all 6 of my Bulls championship season dvds to get correct player appearances for Chicago and their opponents. In doing my last roster editing project, newly unlocked classic teams for NCAA Basketball 10, it took me 1 1/2 to 2 hours per team: I Google imaged every individual player to get his accurate accessories and shoes.
Simply put, I don't know any one else to have that crazy level of attention to detail that I do....except you. I've checked out rosters and thought to myself, "This player didn't wear black socks with white shoes". That's something I've always prided myself on, and I know you do, too.
Again, this is in no way meant to be a shot at other classic team roster editors, but if we're honest, a lot of people do edits for the top players and miss fine details, such as Michael Jordan wearing the band on his forearm pretty much until the 1991 postseason when he then started wearing it on his elbow.
As MavsManiac said, everybody does roster editing differently. To Napjcjd's credit, he does research and appears to be dedicated (which is a must in doing these types of projects). It would be good to have both your and his rosters available to the community because you guys have a proven track record.
I agree with what [email protected] said. We know your work man, it’s different from anybody else
and Not to disrespect the other guy, I really appreciate his effort.
You got my word that if you keep running this classic team complete roster,
I will be more then happy to send you a nice donation
Super excited about this roster! I just switched to the PlayStation community this year. You guys are WAY more thorough and interested in the classic rosters. Thanks in advance, I cheer you on from Michigan.
So, i completed the Seattle Sonics 1995-96 with Ford and Scheffler. I edited shoes, accessories, rotations.
I was thinking about fixing the contracts too
Those are the 1995-1996 Sonics salaries
    Schrempf 5 mill
    Perkins 3.97 mill
    Brickowski 3.25 mil
    Kemp 3.00 mil
    Payton 2.78 mil
    Hawkins 2.50 mil
    Askew 1.80 mil
    McMillan 1.26 mil
    Johnson 767k
    Wingate 560k
    Ford 500k
    Scheffler 250k
    Snow 200k
With today inflation, they should be
    Schrempf 8.45 mil
    Perkins 6.76 mill
    etc...
Since i have never touched contracts before, can\should i touch the contracts of the classic players already in the game? Im pretty sure they are not accurate.
If so, should i adjust using today inflation or in any other way?

    - Shot\3p tendency fix for all the players
    - Accurate Rotation for all the classic teams
    - At least 12 real players for every classic team, up to 15 if possible
    - Head Coach real name and lookalike face, when available

then you've done enough in my opinion. Contracts would just be icing on the cake. (I still haven't even opened the game yet)
As long as you do this:
    I edited shoes, accessories, rotations

    - All the missing players for all the classic teams in the game

    - Accurate CAP for the missing players
    - Accurate Shoes and Accessories for all the players, no 2k shoes

Yeah i guess so, but leaving something not "right" kind of upset me so...
Im struggling to find a good "lookalike" for Phil Jackson, i found a good face but with no beard\moustache, damn.

Since i have never touched contracts before, can\should i touch the contracts of the classic players already in the game? Im pretty sure they are not accurate.
If so, should i adjust using today inflation or in any other way?

Since the contracts only come into play for MyNBA mode, I probably wouldn't bother with the contracts unless the rosters were for a specific season or era.
There are a handful of us that attack this each year. I’ll second that I love the attention you pay to some of the details that I don’t have as much patience for. My OCD really comes out on the CAP and signature portions so if you need any assistance knocking some of those out to help us all get to the end faster let me know.

So, another user "Napjcjd" opened a thread about his version of "completed classic teams" for ps5.
Now, im wondering, since we are working at the same thing basically, should i change my plan and go ahead with a Retro Season?
    Dont know tbh

Keep doing your thing! You always put out great completed classic rosters.

I’ve been asking around Reddit/OS Forums and posting to let someone know that Phil Jackson is in 2K. He was in since last year actually. I thought with it being 2K22, 2K would release the assets they had for myTEAM for offline roster use. This year myTEAM players can get Phil Jackson for free while we are stuck using Mike Wang and friends’ faces for placeholder coaches. It’s such a tiny thing I’m having trouble making a proper request since there are a host of other problems that need to be fixed first

Yeah, Phil was also on the 72 Knicks as a player you know, so this just make me more frustrated...damn

2K has the damn man as a free coach in myTEAM. It’s as simple as just moving the assets over to the offline roster for use. Yet they refuse to do that. You can tell almost zero effort went into the historic and All Time teams rosters this year. I am sick and tired of seeing Mike Wang as the head coach of the 95-96 Chicago Bulls..

Well i guess its always the little things, like Michael Jordan not wearing his iconic accessories in the right place for the 2nd Threepeat version

I don’t mind fixing that kind of stuff. The important thing is for the resources to be available so that we can modify/fix to our content. It’s a really small pet peeve compared to all the bugs/problems 2K22 has right now but I feel like it’s such a simple request that can be fulfilled easily. Maybe no ones really cared till now lol
Reading this kind of stuff makes me continue to hold off on opening the game. Like most things it has its mixed reviews, but I'm only concerned with feedback regarding classic teams. I keep reading and searching for something that makes the game a keeper.

If that’s the case, I’d hold off opening till the game till MJWizard here finishes his roster tweaks. By that time hopefully, we will have a fix for the Broadcast camera issue and who knows? Maybe Phil Jackson will be available for offline use. As it is right now, I see zero effort went into the “classic” portion of 2K22. Literally just copy and paste from last year cept the new few players added to certain teams. I feel like even that move was to counterbalance the loss of so many historic players this year. It’s sad because the classic portion of the game WAS the selling point for the 2K series back before all this myPlayer nonsense came in

    Hi guys
Maybe some of you played with my roster in the past years, i used to make MJ Season rosters. I made a poll to decide my 1st project for 2k22 on my YT channel and "The Completed Classic Teams" project won by a huge margin, so i decided to start with it. Every time a new team is completed i will post a quick video showing the new added players and some stuff.

For the rookie Jordan in my 1984-85 roster, I'm using the MJ jumpshot from daveberg's list: Base is JS40 and the Release is Tony Parker. It's pretty good for the early MJ years. In his list, it says "Credit Blufu?" So he must not have been 100% certain who came up with it.

I think giving Penny the Air Jordan IX would be a good idea since he did wear them.
And I didn't mean for you to consider changing the MJ-era Bulls to having white shoes for home and away--that's something I'm going to do once you have completed the classic teams.
    Once again, great work.

The only rosters I ever played with on 2K18 for the last 4 years were your brilliant classic rosters.
Well I took the plunge last night with 2K22 and My lord!!!!!! It very well may be the greatest NBA Console Game I have ever played straight outta the box since 2K11.

Downloaded the file, great work. These are the changes I would recommend as a sneaker head. Here is a really good page for shoes worn by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls players.
    https://www.thinglink.com/scene/771072836247748609
    1995-96 Bulls:
(Optional) Pippen Shoes/Gear: Air More Uptempo, Colorway #27 (I know Pip didn't wear these during the regular season but it does mirror the white version of the black ones he wore in the playoffs
Rodman Shoes/Gear: Air Shake NDestrukt, Colorway #2 (this is the actual model Rodman wore)
Kukoc Shoes/Gear: Model, Nike Cosmic Unity
Brown: Shoes/Gear: Sock Length Home and Away, Quarter Socks
Edwards: Shoes/Gear: Colorway, Air Jordan XI, #7
(Note: I'm going to use your file as a regular season roster, so I'm going to have the '89, '91, '93, '96, and '98 Bulls wear white shoes home and away, but that's just me).

For your update tomorrow...I went back over player shoes for the '96 Bulls and I found this for
John Salley: Shoes/Gear: Colorway, Nike Zoom GP, #3 (closest match to the link I sent)

I had to re-check all the 3p tendecies of the classic teams made so far.
Mullin, Tim Hardaway, Richmond, Jordan and Pippen with 0 3p tendencies in 1991? Mah
I mean, i get in 1991 the game was more for the mid-range and the post, but 0 three point tendency for those guys?
Anyway, New version online with the 3points tendencies fixed for the 7 teams released so far, including the 91 Warriors plus the 1996 shoes\accessories update for the 96 Bulls after jdaos suggestions.
Updates for Bulls 89 and 91 accessories\shoes\3p tendencies are NOT included into this J, i will upload it tonight or tomorrow. And im still working on MJ jumpshot for 89 and 91.
So, V.2 teams ready to go:
    2000-01 Sixers, 2000-01 Lakers, 1995-96 Bulls, 1995-96 Sonics, 1994-95 Knicks, 1994-95 Magic, 1990-91 Warriors
89 Bulls and 91 Bulls still need accessories\shoes\tendencies\jumpshot fix update
I am holding off starting my season until you finish this roster. So excited to see it in completed form. If you take requests, the 80's Lakers, Celtics, Pistons, and Hawks are my favorite era of teams. If you get to the point where you've done your favorites and are just fixing the rest, could you consider those teams next?

You know what? After the 89 and 91 Bulls i will do the 87 Lakers and the 86 Celtics for you
Huge Heat fan!!! That 96/97 team is my all time fav….even though they came up short…they were all heart. Before I became a Heat fan in 1987 I was a rabid Lakers fan.
Hated them after Riley and Magic left.

Yeah, a lot of the tendencies on the classic and all-time teams are real head-scratchers and seem like they can't be anything but laziness or sloppiness on their part. I just finished up the Bucks for my 84-85 roster and Craig Hodges is the same way. The guy was 7th in the league that year in 3 point attempts and they had him at 0 as well on his 3PT tendency, lol.

They should add a Laker team from the early 80s with younger Kareem and McAdoo, Wilkes...i mean basically the guys are all already in there

I understand that the 1992-93 Bulls may be in the game because of NBA 2K12's '1992-93 Hornets, but if we're talking about classic teams, that 1991-92 Bulls squad was something else. They were not better record-wise than the '96 team (although close), but they were one of the best squads I've seen in the modern era and I wish they were in the game.

i THINK we had the 1991-92 Bulls in 2k11...and the 91-92 Blazers too, instead of the 90-91 we currently have.
I will upload a new version on 2kshare tonight or tomorrow with the 87 Lakers fixed plus the 89 and 91 Bulls with the latest accessories suggestions from jdaos

    Quick Question MJ,
If a team has 12-14 players will be put a fake player so the roster is complete and the CPU will not fill the roster with modern day free agents in MyNBA mode?
    Thanks again mate.

Yes that makes it easy to set up a MyNBA with them. Otherwise we find modern day free agents on these classic teams.
    Appreciate that!!!!
Will you be doing that with this completed classic teams project, your potential season/year project, or both?

I think we need to make it for any roster project, because if we dont reach 15 guys there are always going to be problems in a MyLeague...i know it suks, i hate to see those generic names on a roster. If you guys have any suggestions...im here

The generic names with extremely low ratings and no rotation minutes is the best way to go.
Much better than the CPU going out and signing modern day free agents who play.
    Ruins the immersion.

That's what I'm doing with my roster. Random generic names....I don't like seeing 1-2 "John Browns" on every roster and I really don't like seeing "Roster Filler" or something like that as the player name. I'm putting their ratings well below everyone else so that they aren't really usable and then putting them in the reserve slots in the rotation with no minutes.

Yeah or maybe we can give them a huge injury or stuff like that. Sadly we cant have a classic 12-man roster without this MyNBA issue

Maybe add a player the team had draft rights to? And do the injury/suspension for the year on them? Eg Kukoc on 93 bulls. A bit more effort to do though

Good suggestion but Im trying to be very accurate, so no Petrovic on the 91 Blazers (traded to the Nets), no Brickowski on the 87 Lakers (traded) and so on.
End of regular season\playoff roster, plus every released player who didnt play for another team after the cut. Plus injured\low rated generic where there is space left.
Lakers 1990-1991 next, and more signature edits on the way, 1st will be Isiah Thomas.
Lakers 1990-91 coming tonight, next signature fix will be Joe Dumars. I saw that Cavs 89\90 still have Reggie Williams, im going to remove him since he was traded.

    JOE DUMARS FIX

Guys, im honestly surprised for how many little things need to be fixed and are messed up in the default rosters.
Shoes, accessories, tendencies, signatures we already knew about, but now i was editing 1986 Celtics and i saw Kevin McHale with KOBE ball handling animations! I mean, seriously?
I feel somehow depressed by how many things are there that need to be fixed. Basically, besides the physical appearence, there is no guarantee for anything, you need to double check every single licensed player too.
Awww...anyway Bucks 1984-85 next, and working on Sign edits for Worthy and Aguirre.

You know, with the amount of little things missing here and there, i have this bad feeling about thinking of missing X or Y stuff because i didnt have double-checked it.
Also, i must add, im an old head and i prefer the 1965-2005 classic teams, but i wanted to complete the 2005-2019 teams as well but then i saw how many players are missing for the most recent teams and again its kind of depressing. Anyway
Bucks 85, Hawks 86 and Bulls 86 are the next 3 teams on my list, so we will have the 1980s Teams all completed.
Wish i had more time, or days of 48 hours lol.

We must be brothers from another mother. I always had that bad feeling of missing something while editing. Sometimes I double-checked, but most times I just took an incredibly long time to methodically edit each player; doing so put me at ease because I'm not OCD but I have some tendencies.
I was actually wondering about your plans for the teams after 2005. I would be happy with edited classic teams from 1965-2005, but part of me thinks those OCD tendencies might bother me if I were editing the teams and the ones from '05-'19 were not done, but I can't say for sure. '05 could be a cut-off for me, but someone else who is a fan of your work might want edited teams beyond that period.
Question for you: if you make a specific year/season roster, will it be a continuation of this completed classic teams project? I ask because the day you finish this one, I'm going to add my own edits (for example shoes), but I might not want to do that if you continue editing with a specific year/season if that makes sense.

Cool, glad to see that im not alone on my little obsessive things lol
Well, you right J, i was just thinking about the amount of things that must be fixed and you know since my heart is in the MJ Era and all my project are built around that period...but yeah probably the little OCD in me is gonna say hello and make me finish all the teams lol. Plus yeah there are a lot of fans of the 2000-2019 era so i dont want to let those guys down.
Well, i was wondering about completing or not all the teams because i feel the itch to start a classic season, i have the 72-10 Bulls Season in my mind honestly.
But what im going to do hopefully is this: finish this completed classic roster 1st, and then use it as a base for every single season roster project. Not sure about how i will choose teams slots or stuff like this, but i know that this completed classic teams project will be the Base for everything. Like, finish it and then start a NEW roster using this one as his base. I dont know if its clear. So i might need to extend the project and edits accessories\shoes\tendencies for the All-Time teams too. But thats thinking too much ahead.
I hope you guys are enjoying the Sig Edits so far too
I understand the OCD aspect of roster editing. I love what you're doing so far. I plan to start a season with every franchise's best team, while attempt to limit duplicates, adding Sonics too. You edit so thoroughly that I will wait for your final roster to start. I have all the players ready to change the all-time Suns and Pacers to 92-93 Suns and 99-00 Pacers too. Can't wait, press on soldier!
I know they might be a random team to fit somewhere but I do hope you consider creating MJ's Wizards at some point. I like playing as an even more mid-range oriented Jordan, and that would be my excuse to edit and give MJ one of my favorite shoes, the Air Jordan XI Cool Grey.

Ok, now im scared. I think you read my mind J.
I was just thinking tonight about creating a roster with the following things
1- the already in game classic 100% completed
2- 30 new classic teams replacing the current teams, including MJ Wizards 01-02 or 02-03
3- the all-time teams with sign, accessories and shoes fix

I told ya--we're brothers from another mother.
I'm not going to use the All-Time teams at all because it ruins the immersion for me. I can't play as Derrick Rose and Michael Jordan on the same team--heck, I can't even play as the 1995-96 or 1997-98 Bulls with black uniforms and black shoes because they never wore that combination in real life (nor white socks and black shoes in those two seasons). I can't do it.
Could new classic teams replace the All-Time teams instead? I ask because some of us might still want to play as current teams; plus, I think it would take even longer to edit all the players on the All-Time teams.
My ultimate plan is to take your completed edits and make two separate rosters: a "Regular Season" roster where most classic teams are wearing white shoes, and a "Post Season" roster where the teams that wore black shoes in the Playoffs/Finals wear them. I hate that 2K assumes that classic teams wore white shoes at home and black shoes on the road.
The above reason is why I am very grateful that you have applied my accessory and especially shoe suggestions to the classic Bulls teams because it's going to allow me to move through my personal edits a whole lot quicker.

Yeah convert the Alltime teams into classic teams ia definetly a good idea. The only problem is that you cant rename teams outside of myleague so for quick play we will keep the original all-team name.
Good to hear about the All-time teams. Great to have new options to play with. The Barkley, Drexler, and Hakeem Rockets, the Grant Hill Pistons, Ray Allen/Glenn Robinson Bucks, 92-93 Suns, 99-00 or 03-04 Pacers, & the Barkley/Dr. J Sixers are all great options to add. If you want help in the missing player creation I am decent at it. At least I could give you a starting point to work your signature magic. Let me know what teams you're doing and I could possibly help speed things up. I think as a community, missing player creation could be a big help if some folks chipped in.

The hardest part would be pick just 1 specific team for every franchise.
Like, Celtics: i love the 79-80 because they had Pistol Pete, but i understand people might want the Pierce-Walker Celtics, or maybe the 91-92 with old Larry and Reggie Lewis, just to name a few.

So i finished the 1985 Bucks, but while i was fixing the accessories i noticed that we cant edit the Bucks players shoes, they all got the retro simple basic white Nike and we can give them only Nike shoes. I dont get why 2k doesnt let us give them different shoes, like Converse for example. Mah.
Anyway, Bucks 85 done and Hawks 1985-86 next.

Is it worth reporting in the Bugs & Glitches thread? It might not be if you don't think it would be addressed.

Yep, that was a pain when I was working on the Bucks for my 1984-85 roster. I came up with a work around though. Export the player's DNA. Then open up the player from your DNA list and change the shoes there. Now go back into your roster, open up the editor for the player and import the DNA appearance for that player. Presto....shoes changed and you even have all the shoe options available for the player at that point if you want to make further changes.

Yeah i found it too, but what bothers me is that doing this you will lose the original player body portrait and ...damn we cant win this

Oh, that sucks. Hadn't noticed it but I generally only look at the roster view that has the letter grades on it. The photo body portraits are obviously better, but I'd rather have the updated shoes...the computer-generated body portraits aren't all that bad. Probably different for me though as most of the players in my roster are CAPs so they won't have a photo body portrait anyway. You're dealing with rosters that would have the photo for the vast majority of players.

So apparently if you export DNA player on your offline memory and then import the DNA again you can edit shoes without losing the player body portrait! Cool i guess

The easiest way I’ve found is to:
    1. import player DNA
    2. Use NBA Player
    3. Copy the same player over themselves.
It unlocks the shoes without really changing the player and you don’t have to exit out of the roster. Just be careful if you are making other changes to the player first and do the dna import before saving your changes. When you import the dna from “use nba to player” it’ll import whatever is still saved to the roster and undo any other changes you’ve made prior to saving the player.
I also think it leaves the player portrait unchanged, but you might wanna confirm that before saving.

So, i was editing the 85\86 Bulls and i saw something weird with the ratings.
Dave Corzine: he is rated 72 on the Bulls 88\89, when he scored 5.9 ppg with 3.9 boards in 18 minutes
Now, his rating on the 86 Bulls is 69: he averaged 9.6 ppg with 6.5 boards in 25 minutes with 4 starts in the regular season and 3\3 starts in the playoffs.
Now, this must be an error right?
I gave him a 72 rating and a +3 boost, i usually try to "respect" 2k ratings but this just seem so wrong comparing the 2 seasons. Maybe he should be 69 on the 1989 Bulls and 72 on the 1986 Bulls, i dont know. Isnt 82 for Oak too much for his 85\86 version too? Anyway...Bulls 86 basically done, just waiting for jdaos review on accessories\shoes.
Then i will try to create a good signature fix for Iceman. On my list i have also Aguirre, Moncrief, Cummings and Mark Price.

New Version Online with the latest suggestions from jdaos for the 89 and 86 Bulls accessories.

I wanted to have a shot at Sir Charles Barkley, this is what i got.
As a Barkley fan growing up, that jumpshot you gave him is spot-on.

Bad news: looks like i already used all the editable coaching staff in the game, this means i cannot fix coach appearence & name for the upcoming completed teams.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
As you may remember, we can edit name and appearence only of the generic bald white guys...cant change name or appearence of all the others sadly
That's really unfortunate for the realism aspect. I said it before but one of the main reasons I stayed with 2K13 until now was that albeit with black hands you didn't really notice, it had all the classic team head coaches (except for just Alan Bristow) and the majority of the assistants from 1985 to 2002.
I know some people don't care about that but when you've played basketball, you're a fan of accurate players, but when you've coached, having accurate or look-a-like coaches is a plus as well.

Disheartening news…sad but unavoidable. This is why I wish 2K would just release their MyTEAM assets to the offline rosters. At least then the Lakers and Bulls will have their proper coach and you can use the editable staff for other head coaches. But sadly I’m afraid this request is NOT on top of 2K’s to do list

One of the most TALENTED Bulls teams of the MJ Era? Yeah, it might sounds absurds, but old Iceman, Orlando, Dailey and young MJ are 4 very talented scorers.
For the Starting lineup, i used the playoff version. There were A LOT of change in the starting five during the regular season, so it was kind of difficult.

Going through your updated roster, I noticed just how many teams you edited use up these generic bald white dudes for Phil Jackson. My goodness, if 2K just flipping made Phil Jackson the coach available offline, you’d be able to save so many of those editable coaches for other teams. I do not understand why they just don’t allow us to use him. I’m literally staring at Phil as a coach in myTEAM and I am left scratching my head

Honestly I didn't double check the jersey numbers of the 2k included licensed players, but as I progressed in the work I already found 3 errors. I guess I'll have to check all the licensed players one by one.
    - Stacey King is right handed on the 1991 Bulls, while in real life he is left handed (credit to jdaos)
    - Turkoglu is wearing n.15 on the 2002 Kings, but in RL he had n.5
    - Brad Sellers is wearing n.6 on the 1989 Bulls, but in RL he had n. 2
I think i need to double check all the numbers now. Damn.

I think i need to double check all the numbers now. Damn.

I'm really not trying to come down hard on 2K, but if it's someone's job to input classic players in the NBA 2K series, why can't that person just do the job? We've read people's critical comments about 2K, but we've also seen people defend the defenseless mistakes. Community roster editors do this for free yet somebody gets paid to give Kevin McHale the dribble moves of Kobe Bryant, not to mention assigning incorrect numbers and handedness? It's actually not that hard to get right if you're passionate about your work, and if you are passionate, you take pleasure in getting things right.
Thanks for your work MJW and your attention to detail.

    Thanks J.
Dont get me wrong, i like to fix those type of things, i just dont understand how someone can give to McHale the dribble package of Frobe, or why they cant double check the jersey numbers.
I mean, there has to be someone who got paid to do this, right?
I would love to get paid to do this, but unfortunately i just do this as my hobby and i like it again, dont get me wrong, and yeah if someone want to tip me of course is welcome, but i just dont understand how can you miss those things who are the basic stuff you know and this is supposed to be your JOB.
I mean, if this was my JOB and not my hobby, i feel like i would go crazy trying to lookings into all the little details of the players, but then yeah its just a dream lol.
    Ok rant over.

And the worst part about it is they only need to do it once! Unlike the current rosters, the classic rosters don't need constant updates. They just need to go through them in detail once and fix things and then that's it except for maybe a few minor changes if they remove options for player settings.
Have you been writing down the changes you've made in an Excel sheet or something similar? That might be able to save you a lot of time in the future if you were to do this roster again next year (OR even send over to 2k and with enough support have them make your roster the default classic team roster, at least with the players they have rights to).
Also, how do you decide what jump shot, crossover, etc. to give each player? Do you just watch their plays and go through every animation?

    Thanks sammy.
    This is so depressing.

Thanks again for your work on this roster!
It always seems to be the same players every year that never get updated. I’ll try to point them out whenever I come across any more. As a Mavs fan, JJ Barea was always one who would need to be changed on the 2011 Mavs from #5 to #11

No mate, i have not made any Excel sheet or something similar.
For jumpshot etc, i just take a look at YouTube and then go through every animation.
    COMPLETED CLASSIC TEAMS PROJECT
    LOS ANGELES LAKERS 1970-1971
    Starting:

    PG: West (95)
    SG: Goodrich (83)
    SF: Erickson (75)
    PF: Hairston (82)
    C: Chamberlain (93)
    Bench:
    Baylor (76), McMillian (75), McCarter (68), Riley (70), Roberson (74), Hetzel (72), Killum (65)
    Rotations:
    Starting: West 41, Goodrich 35, Erickson 31, Hairston 36, Chamberlain 44
    Bench: Baylor 15, McMillian 15, McCarter 10, Riley 9, Roberson 3

Some change i made: Baylor barely played this season (2 games, started both), but i decided to keep him as 6th man and lowering McMillian playing time from 25 mpg to 15 mpg
I also lowered a bit Hetzel and Roberson overall ratings (-3 and -1), a little boost to Erickson (+1) and McMillian old 2k stats (+2).
    Other 2 options are:
1- Baylor in the starting five with Erickson 6th man
2- Baylor out of rotations and McMillian at least 21 mpg as 6th man

Just completed the Knicks 1972 and the 2000 Blazers, i found another default error by 2k: Gary Grant is wearing number 23 instead of number 14.

    NEW YORK KNICKS 1971-1972
    Starting:

    PG: Frazier (93)
    SG: Monroe (80)
    SF: Bradley (80)
    PF: DeBusschere (83)
    C: Lucas (87)
    Bench:
    Reed (83), Barnett (78), Jackson (75), Meminger (72), Rackley (67), Miles (71), Mast (69), Paulk (68), Fillmore (64)
    Rotations:
    Starting: Frazier 40, Monroe 28, Bradley 34, DeBusschere 36, Lucas 37
    Bench: Reed 25, Barnett 20, Jackson 10, Meminger 10

Willis Reed played just 11 games in the 1971-72 season, so i decided to have him as a 6th men but with a good amount of playing time. I also used the playoff lineup with Monroe in the starting 5 replacing Barnett.

Anyone ever have trouble loading a roster into MyNBA season? My PS5 keeps freezing right after team select. Is there something I messed up by deleting players or something with salaries? Seems like only certain teams are bugging it out?

Are you talking about THIS specific roster file mate? Or in general?
Nah MJ your roster is fine, I was messing around with the 60-team roster while waiting for your finished product. I just knew there were some knowledgeable people in this thread and was hoping someone knew what was causing the bug. Keep up the good work. Love the roster.
