NBA 2K20
NBA 2K20 Screenshot - LeBron James & Anthony Davis
Check out the new NBA 2K20 screenshot, featuring LeBron James and new Los Angeles Laker, Anthony Davis.
NBA 2K20 will be available worldwide on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC platforms on September 6. NBA 2K20 will also be available on Google Stadia, when it launches later this year.
Anthony Davis has been named the cover athlete for the NBA 2K20 Standard and Deluxe Editions. Dwyane Wade has been named the cover athlete for the NBA 2K20 Legend Edition.
NBA 2K20 will feature the WNBA. While the trailer, released earlier today, didn’t show anything specific, it’s clear to see the WNBA will be included in the game this year.

Agreed. Not saying it’s a bad thing that it looks exactly like 2k19, just an observation. But also agreed that the gameplay needs a lot of work.
Nah I lost hope with 2K making cover athletes consistently look spot on. Giannas was the first one that actually looked great but with 2K18, Kyrie just looked weird.
2K19, LBJ didn't get his new face scan in until mid year. 2K20 they won't change much with AD because his face scan looks really great but his undershirt is just an eyesore.
AD do us a favor and please stop wearing undershirt IRL so he can actually look more spot on in game
Agreed. This generation graphics has peaked. Unless they are going to work on lighting, I wouldn't expect anything "better" 2k20 and 2k21(current gen) in terms of graphics. At most we will see updated face scans and maybe changes to body types.
My hope for next 2 iterations before next gen is that they continue to work on gameplay. If they can work on making gameplay more responsive and user control, I would be good.

I still think there is room for improvement graphically I just think this is 2k taking the year off to concentrate on next gen next year for 2k21. The thing that annoys me most is they expect you to pre order and will talk it up as though it’s this totally new game which clearly it isn’t.
And, it just had to be an above the waist shot so we can still debate whether lower bodies have been fixed..!

Players still look a little cartoonish in 2k, imo

I agree.
When I say peaked for 2k, I say under their current graphics engine that this feels like the most they will commit to graphics.
Those two are EA games. Besides Live, EAs Frostbite engine has produced great graphics. 2ksports has had cartoonish graphixs for their games. Hopefully next gen, they go for realistic graphics

It all starts with the Play-Doh skin textures and the goofy facial expressions.
Two things they actually had nailed in 2k14.

The goofy facial expressions were arguably the worst on 2K14
Lol so which 2k has best facial expressions ?
So for graphics, I wouldn't expect any changes next two years because of next gen consoles coming out late next year. Even with Lighting, I don't see them committing to graphics or lighting now when they next gen will most likely see major changes. I'm content with graphics. I'm more concern about gameplay and depth for the last two current gen games. But the one thing I will keep my eye on is body types. 2k hasn't done a good job with muscular body types. The muscle definition is always off. The buff players usually look to lean instead of stocky. Especially when you see the Shaq builds on classic teams. He looks to lean compared to real life. I say all that because of Zion Williamson. Not only are people going to want accurate face scan, they are going to want accurate body type. He looked really heavy and stocky in Summer League. But if knowing how 2k has done it this gen, we are going to see a Lean Muscular build for Zion
I mean what else are we supposed to do man? Screenshots obviously only show off graphics so what else are we supposed to say about it?
The game modes were so bare compared to now, it’s like they said “let’s just go all out the graphics, screw everything else.”

The comparison has more so to do with player skin textures or the way the lighting reflects off of the player models. Pretty much everything else has seen a massive improvement from accurate face scans to more realistic body types.
Hopefully they will have a new movement/physics system ready for launch with the next gen consoles.

There will be a certain percentage of folks who will talk about 2K14 as the pinnacle even during the next gen. Guaranteed.
You think so? I mean if next gen consoles are as powerful as said to be, next gen 2k should be leaps ahead of 2k14 in terms of graphics. Better lighting, better player models, better everything i'd assume. After all, it was really only 2k14's lighting and textures that put it ahead of the current 2k's. Current 2k's still have better player models.
And how some people see what I'm seeing with the cartoon look of 2k20, 2k19, 2k18. Action figure skin textures.
PC fixes this every year with a simple texture pack. And the faces in 2k19 on PC still look 100x better than those 2k20 images.
Simple roster updates until release of 2k22 on Xbox Scarlett and PS5.
Here are two images from 2k19 PC in comparison to the 2k20 images!
Every year people complain about the game being “copy and paste” and then when the game drops people complain about how they can’t adjust to the new gameplay. Every 2k plays different somehow or another. Obviously I don’t know jack about what 2k20 will have in store but history tells us it should play different anyway and I always look forward to the challenge

Co-sign this. Skin textures and lighting were certainly it's strong points though.

2k21......
Nope it'll be another year!

It really all depends when both Sony & Microsoft announce release dates for new consoles.
If it's Christmas 2020 (which makes the most sense) we have a good shot at VC re-releasing 2K21 around that time. Otherwise, we'll be waiting for 2K22.
But with both consoles preaching backwards combatibiloty, you can see developers just allowing there to be a patch for current gen game so that it updates game for next gen hardware
Sorry off topic, but who is that lady in your profile pic?
It's been a couple off years, honestly.
It appears that VC maxed out their previous game-engine with 2K16-2K17.
They made a last ditch effort integrating the game-engine (which have had negative consequences for gameplay) we've had now for the past two years to give 2K a fresh face, but the Nile is already beginning to run dry.
Simply put, 2K has peaked graphically, but it will compensate with additional features like "The Neighborhood", "MyTeam", etc.

That's definitely not PC. Console lighting all the way.
To me, 17 is the worst. They had yellow filter on every player, skinny *** body type, and the texture quality is just not on par with current gen. Also, the jump from 17 to 18 is actually really good. They fixed the jerseys and its physics. The bodies is also nice compare to 17 although still not good enough. Players actually have shoulders in 18 rather than slopped shoulders on 16 and 17.
I hated 2K17. Especially the art.
What bothers me is the crappy claymation skin-textures they keep using every single year!
Our PC Community has added real skin-textures each year to show how to make the game look more realistic and 2K doesn't even take the hint.
Here is the latest improvements to Skin-Textures on PC, that should be default in 2k20 no excuses.
yeah...lack of stats is really disappointing...
and ps5 should be out next summer....
Got it from one of those Chinese modders months ago, wouldn't even be able to tell you which one.

I’ve been saying this for a while about 2k. Like the graphics look good but look a little cartoonish compared to other games that use actual people and their face scans in game. Also, to me I’ve always felt like 2k especially my career is just a parody of the nba in a sense, that’s why as each game that drops I lose interest super fast and end up just sticking with my league. Like even in my league another sign of parody is the NBA injury reports lol.. itll say something stupid like LeBron James (took the wrong flight and ended up in Canada) will not play tonight against the grizzlies. Like it’s not a big deal but things like that kinda takes me away from the game. One of the most likeable things about NBA live that I don’t think that people notice is the realism. There aren’t any jokes or any type of parodies in the game at all. It feels what an actual NBA players career should feel like, unlike my career where they just force unrealistic cutscenes on us. The prelude was dope bc it felt real, but afterwards all the cutscenes were so forced and just had parody written all over them, especially the Ben Simmons one lol omg.
