Love the smoothness of the animations. No hiccups. 2K must have added thousands of new animations this year.

I agree. I am pretty shocked at how different from the prelude this looks. These gameplay videos look absolutely stunning. I love the speed/pace of the game, and everything seems to flow great from an animation standpoint.
It makes me wonder how old the prelude build and why they wouldn’t give us a demo more representative of the final product.
Thank you for these videos. My excitement level is through the roof!

UPDATE: Eternity.gr for anyone looking for the youtube page for a wider view.
I'm on the record as being super concerned with reaching but this game had them called pretty consistently--lets hope PNO doesn't let users spam, because if they CAN...THEY WILL.

It has nothing to do with wanting, they work on the game until the last minute, the Prelude had to be ready at a certain date, Mike even said it that the game will play differently from the Prelude as they continue to iron out issues, I am not sure if any of the released videos have been of the final build especially since there will be a day one patch.
As a basketball fan, these were all hard to watch..... haha
I'll take em though.
I'll take em though.
Hahaha it's one of those "careful what you wish for" things. It's nice that there's a good amount of gameplay videos now but man they can be hard to watch and it really has nothing to do with the actual game.
I'll take em though.
yeah I was not impressed at all but the game will sell millions of copies like every year lol 2k really needs branding and a color pop, gameplay similar to last year.

Thats not the Rockets chant
Theyre using old college hoops chants again man SMH
Funniest part is 80 percent of the guys on this thread talking ish about the users play the exact same way or they are just as bad trying to score in the post every possesion with non post players. Ha. I see plenty of improvements in these videos.

Rockets chant
Its pathetic man
Haha. Yh the improvements are definitely visible and speaking of the post, love how there is a lot more going on for it this yr. You can actually still get some offense going with those non dominant post players. Like with the new post fakes to stepbacks, guys that are good shooters can potentially still create offense from the post...especially shot creators.
Its NBA basketball how dramatically can you change it every year considering this is a simulation game?
sigh...another year of asking modders to adjust head sizes. Now I want to see Drummonds melon...
oh you'll know when it's different.
You are talking out of your you know what, you seem to only be looking at the graphic for your justification for improvement and ignore all other improvements to the game all the work that was done under the hood, AI improvement, motion improvement, Playbooks, clipping, MT, My League and the list goes on.
Did you notice if specific players still soared for blocks and stuff like Vince Carter? Cause i remember that was something i had brought up on here a while ago.
5:19 very early release AND lightly contested? he got the foul call..........
and some clippings whenever Paul George went for the dunk.
yeah clippings do happen in 3d games but does this mean dunk success is somewhat predetermined no matter how defenders react? he didn't even get the and-one for contacts.
And a demo cannot be patched with the latest gameplay? Would you buy a car thats still in the design process and might look & drive completely different when you get it...?
A demo should always represent the current state of the game that you can buy in the store. I dont get why this gets accepted here.
This is my exact feeling. Way I see it, 2K18 was an improvement on 2K17 and 2K19 looks and feels like an improvement on 2K18. I’m happy.
You havent gotten a chance to check the Prelude out?

Actually i did, and i see what your talking about, everyones animations for the most part seem more grounded, not everyone is high flying athletes.
Also i guess il just throw this in there because you might know, but with the takeover system, if say someone like Kobe, who might be a sharpshooter and a slasher, if he shoots his way into takeover, would it activate his slashing takeover also? Or a player like Shaq, who i would imagine would have glass cleaner in his archetype, if he got takeover from grabbing rebounds etc, would it activate his post scoring takeover?

I just asked this in the prelude impressions thread, but I see it’s still the case in the full game. Does the lighting look very poor to anyone else? The lighting, the court colors , shadows and reflections all look significantly scaled back.
Gameplay is everything of course but somehow this almost cell shaded look bothers me. Especially when the other game looks so vibrant and colorful.

As for your question, that's a good one...I dont know...
-This is the best implementation of "live ball" that 2k has ever released, from the way the ball comes off the rim to when and how the players react to a loose ball. It doesn't look or feel scripted at all.
Yeah I really wish 2K would fix the sliding in their game. It's one of the few complaints & pet peeves that I have with the game. Players constantly slide into position to receive passes without moving their feet, especially during inbound passes. This game would be so much better if they addressed foot planting properly.
Even with the player who has the ball, it looks like they’re taking 3-4 steps before the ball even hits the ground. Also players are shuffling and covering so much court without moving their feet properly which looks really aesthetically bad and not improved at all.

Yh I noticed that too. Thats definitely improved and it feels like your AI is actively trying to make plays on defense now. The only thing that's still kinda flawed is the AI's default defensive logic. Like sometimes they'll just straight up leave top scorers wide open to play help defense, for example.
Not to mention the lighting makes the players look flat & dull. E.g. player arms look like they're just one colour, like a cartoon. There's no shades or reflections or camera lens effects or anything like that. It doesn't look like a real broadcast. It really just looks like a last-gen videogame with how the visuals look. Arenas don't look great. AND, the players are sliding around.
^ These are the things that ruin the suspension of disbelief for me. I thought for sure by 2K19 this game would be hard to tell if it's a real broadcast or a video game. But it's easy to tell that it's a videogame. The graphics haven't progressed much since 2K14-ish.
Some positives. The animations look fantastic, that has always been 2K's strength, and i'm sure the AI will be very advanced. The blocking physics look awesome to me. <-- that's what has stood out the most.
It's just the lighting, visual depth, and sliding that are gonna kill my suspension of disbelief. Hopefully it's fun to play. Last year was fun at first but became frustrating after a few patches (as an offline user)
Granted this is coming from someone who knows nothing about making a video game, just a general, personal observation (which may not even be accurate).
Then next gen will come out and all these new graphical feats can be reached again and we end up full circle, admiring lighting etc. like we did in 2K14.
Nah... HDR is available on both PS4 & Xbox1S too.
other than resolution of the game, the rendered graphic is exactly the same.
it just expands the dynamic range of luminosity. doesn't add additional light source or anything.
you get additional input lag too.

they might not render the same but it's just greater dynamic range. that's all.
all you get from HDR is just brighter/darker picture.

8bit, 10bit, 12bit there is a difference and it improves the picture the higher the support. The vanilla consoles are not able to display 10bit HDR. The same reason HDR looks better on my Oled vs my TCL is because of the technology being superior
Yeah, that's the problem on the TV side.
The vanilla consoles do display 10bit HDR, that was my point.
