Oh man, that trailer made me want to barf.* So over dramatic and self serving.* Not surprised.* Typical Lebron over-hype.

But if it was Jordan ya'll would be creaming all over yourselves.
Looking forward to seeing what 2K19 is about. I'm not into the MyCareer but it would be nice to have one where you actually are the chosen one like LeBron with the ratings/game to match. Either way, I'm hyped!
These kinds of presentations are getting silly.
It literally has NOTHING to do with 2K lol. It's so obviously "branding > basketball" that it turns me off the game

I don't think LeBron waited around a neighbor waiting to play organized team ball and had to use his cell phone to join a team

He might have got financial advice from IT and Dbooks though!
Literally got to post 3 and 4 before the LeBron vs Jordan arguments started.
Figured we'd get a little deeper into the thread before that started, but here we are.

New to MyCareer! - "The Chosen One," Live the life of a player destined to become the Greatest Of All Time, with mentoring from the self-proclaimed GOAT, LeBron James! Starting overall, 30! VC upgrades more expensive than ever! NBA games and Park games, 3,000 VC!

Honestly man, I have no issue with VC. I don't see it as worth it so I wouldn't spend a dime on it. I havent. Hasn't stopped me from enjoying the MC mode (I don't play online). I was able to dominate with my guy in 2K16, 2K17 and the little bit of 2K18s I played. I wasn't with that running around the neighborhood stuff, though. I kind of feel like people either need to speak with their wallets or just accept that this model isn't likely to change. They're making money hand over fist and it's growing each year.
Show us some game play here, not a let's continue to inflate Lebron's ego video. All this hype over someone who is 2 games away from having a 3-7 NBA Finals Record?
Report on this game when they don't require $60-150 for the game and another $50-100 to play online (for one decent player).
The game is a cash grab played only be the stupidest of people.
Sounds like this is just a hint towards yet another cliché MyCareer storyline.
I'm guessing you're gonna start in High School as some basketball prodigy like in 2k16 and you'll just work up to the NBA from there.
    Yawn.

OK - time for a gut check. For all those people pissed off about 2k18, will you express that frustration with your wallet?

I will. I will not preorder the game like I did in the previous years. I am going to try prelude, see how it plays, wait a couple of weeks after the release, see what people whose judgement I trust say about the game and then see if I am going to buy it. I can wait, season starts in October anyways. Cannot understand why someone would pay extra to play the game 4 days before the official release. 4 days.
Eh I'll wait for gameplay impressions. I just want less canned animations and way more physics-based gameplay.
At least FIFA 18 felt good this year offline, especially with a lot of gameplay modding. No amount of sliders felt right in 2K18.

    Wow release date is even earlier (2k18 = 15 sep.17, 2k19= 7 sep. 18)
not sure if that is a good thing or a a bad thing.....

Well be betatesting anyway, doesnt matter if its released early or late september...
I must be getting old because i miss the days that a video game was about the video game. If video games are a means of entertainment and escapism then why add that other stuff to it. With all due respect to 2k and Lebron, i couldnt care less about his story and the unique words to describe it when i throw the disk into my gaming system. Im trying to play a video game for a couple of hours and then turn it off and go to bed. Stop trying to indoctrinate and condition peoples minds that way.

Calm down man, this is just the debut trailer all they're trying to do is get people talking about their game. And it's working.

I really don't get all the hot takes stemming from this trailer. I mean, we know there's gonna be some story component to go along with the career mode. Theres gonna be some tag line. There's gonna be VC. This formula isn't gonna change drastically. This has been the case for 3 or 4 years now. Why people act like there's some impetus to shake a successful model up is beyond me. The trailer did nothing for me other than let me know that 2K19 info is coming.

All this trailer really did was name the cover boy, release date, and preorder bonuses. Pretty standard procedure for all games these days. We're still 3 months out I'll take what news I can get.
Let's not forget gameplay is a long way off. Screenshots are about a month off if memory serves.
I'd love a Lebron moments mode. It's been a while since they did the Jordan mode. It would really freshen things up.
I have absolutely "ZERO" Hype for this game as a NBA 2K vet.
MY Player, online mods, , VC's whatever do not interest me at all
I only care about solid offline gameplay but that doesn't seem like 2K's focus so... ZERO HYPE.. We'll see
When they add things back like custom arena music and nostalgic filter presentation like 2k12, then I'll get excited.  I also would like the announcers to get back to announcing the game.  Last couple of seasons you'll have an amazing alley oop and it will be in the middle of some monologue by Chris Webber speaking in his monotone voice.  It takes away from the atmosphere of the game.  I want to go back to the days where Clark Kellogg and Kevin Harlan would have a semi orgasm when there was a good play.  Not trying to be all negative though.  I really enjoyed them adding more classic teams last year and I really appreciate all of the customization they've brought back.  Hope it continues.  Custom arena music and custom presentation fonts/music would go a long way towards getting people hyped.

I agree with you. Does anyone remember when they did an anniversary cover for Kobe Bryant and there wasn't a single new mode pertaining to Kobe Bryant?

Don't get me started with Chris Webber dragging on about his personal experiences and interests for like 5 minutes.

any chance it could be a single player story where your LeBron and you get to decide what team you play for and all that?

Another LeBron: Path to Greatness mode would be nice considering he's gonna be a free agent this summer. I'm thinking the tag line will have something to do with your myplayer getting hurt and passed on in the draft only to return better than ever and terrorize the league. Or something along those lines.

i miss those old modes they had on the old 2k games. that lebron one was fun. Was that 14?

i also have zero hype. I remember 2k10, the 25th anniversary and they gave nothing with Kobe and he was the coverboy.

Is it too soon to include game 1 of the 2018 nba finals????
