  1. I called this yesterday. Looks good.
    - Loved the animations on the loose balls.
    - It seems like the crowd will react better and I hope they sound better. Basing that off that game winning shot. Looks like they got hype.
    - That clip of Kyrie made it seem like layups will be a lot better this year like a lot of us expected with him being on the cover. Dunk animations I've seen was also nice.
    - Seems like they added where you can ride their hip on defense.
    Can't wait.

Pretty looking trailer. Like what I saw ...
BUT, until we get actual gameplay, consider me skeptical. Show me a full quarter of what we'll actually play, 2K.
Nice trailer, but at this point I think gameplay videos are needed. It's like this trailer would have been hot a week ago or so.
Nice to see players falling down and opponent hoping over to get the loose ball.
So we're gonna have another trailer thread in another year with people asking for gameplay they know they won't get until a week or 2 before release huh?

One thing is for sure though..... the reaction from sizzle trailers has changed.
Czar, OG and Mike blog and the place will ALWAYS erupt.....
His hair looks way better lol
BTW, the Clippers blue is F'D UP. Sometimes I wonder if they just scan stuff in and after dropping down the meshes and adding in the textures move on. Because I see no other way they could see that and think it was okay or even close to accurate.
I see some players really improved. Random thoughts:
    - Wiggins body is really improved. No more gumby.
    - Lavine face is legit.
    - It must be a perspective thing, but in some of the shots tall players and short players didn't really look different. One shot made AD look like a wing.
    - Best KD ever, best LeBron ever.
    - Giannis flexing animation showed what we already knew... no muscle definition.

Not trying to be rude or nothing...but that's it? Honestly was expecting to have my socks blown off....came away with "Meh" feeling..

I literally had the same "meh..." feeling. This trailer was nothing but average.
Crowd and atmosphere seem vastly improved. I really like the detail they put in the art this year, hopefully they can amend the Clippers' jerseys with the correct tone of blue and red :waytogo:.
Graphics are crazy good. Bodies and muscle definition looks incredible.
Hopefully they talk about gameplay soon. No more CPU sliding and better contact physics/animations. Also, more creative AI offensively and smarter AI defensively.

Yeah I'm struggling with that Clippers blue.... I mean I know they've had colors wrong in the past.... but damn! Haha......
For some reason the trailer didn't really do a lot for me. I quickly went back and watched some of the older trailers to see what's changed. I think the 2K18 one just has so many cuts and little on-court action that it felt like I couldn't really see the game in motion. Half of the video seemed like it was up-close emotional reactions. It's cool if they want to showcase facial technology though. Just a different angle for these things than there used to be.

Also, to be greedy, it would have been nice to see some classic teams sprinkled in again, unless there's a separate trailer coming for that down the pipe (with the All-Time teams and whatnot).
All that said, I did see some things I liked. LeBron James' dunk looked authentic and it's neat they added one of Stephen Curry's random new celebrations. I like seeing as much signature stuff as possible. I want to know what makes using different players feel unique.
Sorry, but this is just random gameplay so I didn't get shook once (pun intended!)..the diving for loose balls is something that might be more obvious in 2k18 than prior, but nothing really stands out to me. We knew the graphics would be great, seeing the shirts move as they described is cool. I figured with the drop of 2 classic teams and the Lakers + Heat all-time we would least see some footage of them.

It's difficult for 2k trailers to impress me because they are all pretty similar in that they are sizzle reels with highlights (though this one was even lacking in that department). You can watch 2k trailers from last gen and they still look pretty good. Problem is that it's hard to get an idea of what's new or how the game will play. Other than some of the loose ball animations nothing really jumped out as new stuff for 2k18.

Can someone explain why the Knicks court is always off in every nba2k game?

EA has exclusive rights to Madison Square Garden. They can't make an exact replica with a different name.
    So no Brittany Round Orchard.
Lastly, they should take note of what the textures added to the jerseys has done to how realistic they look and apply that same logic to muscles. In a relaxed state, much like jerseys, there shouldn't be ultra ripped guys. On the other hand while flexing, moving around, or exerting themselves in any capacity, there should be tension in the muscles which gives off the effect needed. Think similar to this but not just on the neck and shoulder:

I'm sure there will at least be a trailer for All-Time teams. They announce a reveal date, I believe the 25th, which leads me to believe there will be a trailer.
Trailer was decent and had a little wow factor. I was disappointed in the animations put in the game. They really didn't show any defensive highlights other than Jimmy B. I think that's the side the game lacks most

Please 2K next trailer needs more sizzle and action like this one and less close-ups and slow-mo player emotions

I think it depends on who makes it. The momentous trailers are pretty much always better than the others with the rare exception of the OMG trailer which is only because it was the 1st time we saw next gen and Phil Collins is epic.

Hit a game winner in 2k17...

Yeah it looks just like in the trailer. Hopefully it's loud as hell now.

I dunno...it's definitely a 2k trailer...I'm sure the casuals will eat it up. Personally 2k17 sluggish movement soiled the game for me. I need to get my hands on the Prelude so I can get a feel for the game. If anything they should release Prelude early so the devs can get some feedback on what can be adjusted like what the other game is doing. That's just me though....
    Post more HD pics plz
Yeah I would agree that there was a lack of action in that trailer.
Enjoyed it for what it was though.
LBJ and KD are picture perfect....best they have ever been digitally...
Biggest take away was that the defender actually seemed to be on his heels when getting crossed. Hopefully a good sign and not trailer magic..

Hit a game winner in 2k17...
I think I might have enjoyed this clip more than I did the trailer. It made me feel like I should have played more 2K17. After years of hoping and praying for better buzzer-beater responses it really looks like 2K's nailed that part these last few iterations.
Do they do replays of the winner with some form of analysis?
Kindve a let down after some of the earlier screens and that art vlog. Shorts still look horrendous. Another year of kilts instead of shorts. Faces and upper bodies look good though.

If we were to get a Reminisce Over You legends trailer it would hit me in the feels so hard I'd have no other choice than to pre-order! Lol

**** Fox looks amazing. I don't know what it is about this kid, but he's driving the Kings up on my list of teams to do a MyLeague with.
I agree with the general response. Very little wow factor at this point. I remember having a heart attack when the 2K13 trailer dropped with the Victory track. Momentous trailers are usually the best, but honestly, I'm just ready for real gameplay.
I did like that players seem to have more emotion and that they put a technical FT in the trailer, maybe in-game Techs are in ???? That'd be dope.
This trailer could've been more, especially with how Ronnie hyped it, but it's not bad. I think it was just over-sold

They just can't blow this opportunity....they announce 16 new classic teams AND they have Pete Rock & CL Smooth Reminisce track in game. They just can't.

Here's the things that might be missed:
#1 - Alternate Grey Uniforms for the Pistons?

Yep, the uniforms were the first thing I noticed in this picture. Totally. ;)
I don't know...the graphics looked nice in screenshots. Then when I see it in a video, it doesn't look that great, no wow (yeah, I know the limitations after 2K14, but still). I thought 2K16 trailers showed nice graphics that made me watch it again. This trailer, not so much.

Faces are crazy accurate . But I feel like the lighting could use some improvement . idk the game could look more realistic and lifelike IMO .
I'm not saying the game looks bad at all though

This is the only sequence that really impressed me. Contact seems to be made between Lavine and Butler arms, and Lavine facial expression changes during the animation, as well. I liked it.
And yes, Wiggins improved a bit but still needs wider shoulders and more muscle definition:

That's just Nostalgia, and the fact that 2k14 was the first next gen title and we were coming off previous gen graphics.
I literally just went back and watched the 2k14 next gen trailers and the graphics looked way worse to me. Only thing that's changed is perception since we're accustomed to it now.

The reason I don't get too hyped off 2k trailers. I don't think a 2k trailer has ever looked bad. At worse they might not show enough, like this trailer. But when they want to make a trailer full of exciting highlights they can and it will look great. Hell you can go back to 2k7 and still make a great looking trailer
Just curious at this point but are teams only wearing colored socks on the road during certain days similar to the stance socks or is Nike making teams wear colored away socks every game haven't seen many if any black away socks.
Nothing new under the sun; the sound of swishes and dunks still gives the impression of being captured in an empty studio (in 2007).
I guess crowd and atmosphere will follow suit.
Hoping to be eating my own words but meh not a major chance.

You def follow me on Twitter lol. Wiggins has had the same "scan" for 3 yrs or so. So off. I was hoping they'd have a good scan for him. Maybe they'll surprise me by launch.
Most everyone else looks good. I just can't handle another year of the same Wiggins scan. He's my go to scorer for My league.
I like the loose ball stuff though. Look forward to seeing actual gameplay, like most of you, thought the trailer was meh.

If it's at the buzzer the refs will review it I believe and they'll show slow mo replays with a shot of the replay center in Seacacus to see if you beat the buzzer while Kellogg and Harlan talk over it.

Could not care less about a trailer that will probably show pregame animations/canned animations for the full 45 seconds,

Called it on an old thread. Not amused by players stretching and diving on the floor, especially since the dive for loose ball rarely worked properly in 2k17.

Yeah I dont get too up or down about them...I take what I can from them and keep it moving..
Biggest takeaways for me are the improved body types (Wiggins, Reggie Jackson, Gordon Hayward no longer have the skinny body type, look much more realistic) CP3 also doesn't have the body builder body type, he looks a lot better too. On the other hand there's a lot of guys that are lacking necessary muscle definition. Some guys have the same scan, which is unfortunate but not a deal breaker. Biggest eyesore was the Clippers Jersey...not dark enough at all. Even if the used the same blue of the Warriors that'd be fine. Hopefully that's fixed.
    Meh..
looks great, as always but at this point if its not tangible gameplay, dev blogs, or meaningful info ? Meh..
All i can say is 2k is very comfortable right now. Too bad, was really hoping they could make me eat my words and regret cancelling my preorder. The same marketing strategy, same vague communication with devs, gives no hope that this not 2k17.5
Too bad, even with all my disappointment with 2k recently i was still hopeful theyd reel me back in but by the looks of the trailer - its the same game with a touch up to offball animations and menus. Hope is not dead but its definitely dying out fast
on the fence about purchasing used or not at all, this trailer doesnt give me any excitement
I'm very high on 2k but this is one of the more disappointing trailers I've seen. Only saw stuff I didn't like, like Jrue Holidays hair, and Andrew Wiggins, and Anthony Davis, and Kawhi Leonard
Dribble moves looked about the same for everybody to me. Atmosphere looked nice, but it's all about the timing of those things and the right sound. Gonna wait to see some more.

I mean even by 2k standards this trailer left a lot to be desired. I at least expected a bit more in terms of action and highlights. But you also have to consider that OS users are die hard fans that aren't easily impressed.
Can I just say, this is partly the reason they wait with showing stuff as the "new" wore off on the graphics a bit with so many screenshots. They haven't helped themselves with the lack of hair/facial hair updates and lack of muscle definition either. Also, I think the NBA Live demo has undermined them a bit as Live's graphics are pretty amazing outside of some weird faces. The textures definitely make 2k look flat in comparison
Just yesterday, people were asking for a trailer because they were tired of screenshots.
This is the same kind of trailer 2k has been doing for years. How are ya'll going to base a decision of buying the game or not on their annual hype trailer? Of course it's not going to be as convincing for you to buy, you've seen this trailer before in years past. The real improvements are going to be under the hood, and frankly, everyone should know that by now.

we are diehards here. thats whats so disappointing - i am/was a 2k fanMAN (too old to be fanboy) but for the first time in the series NOTHING has excited me about this upcoming installment. Reading through all the top threads here it seems im not the only 2k fan who might fore go 2k18.
thats the really sad part, around this time of year MOST OF US are on a 1 way ticket to optimism-ville for the new 2k. The overall tone this year has been "hmmm, i dont know 2k?.. youve lied to me so many times i want to see whats under the hood first"
thats not a good place for your diehard fans to be

With that said, I enjoyed the trailer for what it is.
I personally fell off on 2K16 and 2K17 and hopefully, this brings me back to the series.
Liked what I saw and although it's a sizzle trailer, the little things implemented are things a lot of people will be discussing in "The Little Things 2K18" thread in a month and a half.

I wasn't expecting the earth to shake with this trailer just merely due to the fact that after years of these trailers and Shady's videos they're just so commonplace that a player in the trailer would have to like bounce the ball off of my forehead to get a rise outta me, LOL. It was good to see the game in motion after all of the screenshots. Things are looking good except for the Clippers unis. Kinda strange how good every other team's colors look and how off the Clippers is. Only 30 more days to go.

I like how it's always "2K needs to get a re-scan of ****" like it's not on the players.
Want a re-scan? Show up to the session or book one of your own.
Live 18 looks great in screenshots, Kawhi looks like hell in gameplay. I'd rather players look damn good to great, in both.
Take a picture of yourself now compared to last year or the year before, what's different? More stubble? Beard? At any point did you ever shave it? Sheesh lol.
LeBron looks like the Hulk irl in some screens, but nobody wants that LeBron in the game right? That's the complaint isn't it? Giannis from seat 311 doesn't look like a massive Monstar either. James Harden in his latest instagram looks like he's been on the juice the whole offseason and looks jacked, do we want James Harden looking like Demarcus Ware now? Seriously smh.

If it wasn't for those "terrible consoles" we wouldn't even have nba 2k or basically any video game. Console is where the sales are. Nowadays it's not worth releasing a game in PC only to be pirated like crazy, unless is an online only game which needs to be purchased to be able to play it.

Looks like they are still updating some players, with Marcus Smarthaving two different hairstyles in the trailer

Always the case with trailers as they get the clips from different builds of the game.

    Well.....we've seen Russ finally.....
    .....sort of.... :)
I got nothing from this haha.....

LOL. You called it Mark. You may be right about them using the same Westbrook face..Somewhat odd that we haven't seen a full on screenshot of the current NBA MVP yet:jpshakehe. Good trailer...

They finally have dynamic hairstyles/facial hair throughout the season in MyLeague. That'd be dope. Not happening, though

Off topic question.....2k isn't at gamescom this year??!
Sent from my Illudium Q-36 Space Modulator,

2K18 WILL be at gamescom this year/next week. Confirmed by Ronnie 2k on twitter.

That Bron player model is fantastic! The tree trunk calves and ankles being gone alone make it superior to any LeBron player model from the last few years, add the near perfect likeness and it's bar none the best LeBron player model ever. It does concern me that I haven't seen the custom "I Promise rubber bands" in anything. Really hoping that they aren't removed from the game.
All I took from this trailer is they are still hiding Westbrook. Ridiculous. Not impressed by trailers like this with angles that aren't in the game. Sorry to sound negative but it's what I think. Shocked to see this trailer this morning because of the time frame they release their content.
The only thing I liked was the improvement in graphics and the loose ball hustle.
Noticeable improvement in those two areas. The rest I will wait before I judge.
This was a nice sizzle trailer hopefully a classic trailer and I launch trailer follows.  I like how 2K builds and they really put work in to their product.  The other game had 2 cycles and they put out an arcade multiplayer focus b-ball game that doesn't animate better than 2k16. I will say that I they need to have the refs move with whistles in their mouths. That would be a nice touch, and highlights from other games or a nightly wrap up top 10  plays of the  night  during the season both  online and  offline use.

Players looked good for the most part. The issue now seems to be certain players are too thin in the arms. Courts look bad to me. Could be what I'm watching it on.
What happened to all the gif makers here? We used to get a ton of gifs when a trailer is released.

Maybe that's how it's suppose to be lol

i thought the same when i saw folks point it out. i thought maybe it was like an alternate or something??
    I thought it was ok.
The lighting is too dark tho. And the lack of lighting on the players make the skin textures look pretty meh.
And pretty much every player has the exact same muscle definition (or lack there of). Didn't that 2K guy talk about all the different body types in the game? Yeah, I'm calling BS on that.
I see a lot squashed hype over the 2K trailer but I think it has more to do with the direction of the game in recent years. Last year I got pretty hype over the momentous trailer and the release of the prelude but once the game dropped and I settled in the game gave me as much or more frustration than enjoyment. This year I was excited from what I was hearing about live but when the first gameplay trailer dropped I was disappointed. However, once I started playing the demo and really diving into it to learn the gameplay mechanics and mastering the control I looked up several sleep deprived days later and realized I had just had the most fun playing a basketball game that I can remember. Can't judge anything over a trailer except the trailer as it's own thing, is it dope, is it entertaining. Leave it for the graphics hoards and videophiles, and authenticity nuts to get all angsty about.

Did Live even have a trailer? Sounds like you just wanted to tell us you were enjoying Live again
Kidding...I do agree though...not worth getting caught up either way..
I've been on the board for a while, and I can remember when dropping a trailer would have sustained the masses for weeks (I'm thinking of NFL2K1, NBA2K8), but we don't live in that day anymore. If they drop a Trailer, people want gameplay, If they drop a video full of gameplay, people will complain that it's not a demo, if they drop a demo, people will complain it's not the full game, it really doesn't matter. It's the time of the world we live in.

Not true, trailers as recent as 2k11, 2k12, 2k13, etc were huge and made alot of people hyped.
the jumping over the guy on the floor animation has me most excited.
if players have a lot more awareness to avoid other players on the court defense could be MASSIVELY improved, as can getting in and out of plays quicker.
I believed Czar when he mentioned this was worked on and has been a long process, and I just hope that it's launched fully operational coz I'm pumped af for this game.
The hip riding is hella nice too I hope this is a large factor in the new animations.
Trailer ain't got much sauce but I know that a trailer doesn't make a game any better. I would very much like to see some players with updated player models though, seeing identikit Brandon Ingram doesn't look great considering improvements to players like Paul George and LeBron, if they can update players mid-season wooooo it'd be lit af.

Even 2k14 with the next gen trailers. I remember rewatching those trailers over and over again and continually being blown away.
One factor could be the Live 18 demo. Hard to get excited over a trailer that doesn't show much when you can go and play a demo of the other NBA game
I love how Czar and Mike will come into the gameplay threads and interact with us.
I wish the art guys/gals would come in here and talk art with us.
I wanna know if the muscle definition edit (skinny/normal/ripped) is gonna actually work this year in the player edit screen. It hasn't worked at all the last 2 years, but it did before that.
This year more than ever we need it to work.
Watched trailer a few more times in higher HD(2160p)-I recommend every one change the speed to .25 and turn off audio when you watch it on youtube..
Looks like there might be a couple of Westbrooks in this video (1-frohawk while dunking; 2- short hair cut while standing behind PG13 at free throw line-That Westbrook model swaps to Christon #6). The Beverly sequence looked amazing with him screaming--You could see the veins in his neck popping out and you could certainly see muscle definition in his arms (Not vintage Swarzenagger muscles or anything but it was certainly there). New Clint Capela, Norman Powell, Tristan Thompson,Steven Adams(I think). I saw what I call "Getting skinny" animations (an old nfl 2k term). This basically means that there was no mario running when players came in to contact with one another. They reacted to one another and moved to get out of each other's way. Player emotion looks fantastic!

Since Mike, Czar, etc. have been interacting with the community, the art people doing the same would be a welcome addition. Of course they'd have to be prepared to read/react to a sh*t ton of comments/suggestions/overblown reactions, but the returns could be games changing.
I pointed out the activation of the ripped/general/lean option for player edit on another thread, and I hope it works again this year too..

Hate to bang the drum but on a re-watch Giannis' hair is gonna piss me off I hope they update it.. his hair is a lot more streamline and shaped than they have it in the game.
These trailers never hype me up, because you know that's never how the game is actually gonna look during gameplay.
Cool to see some new content though i guess
Why not bring the Prelude out now, instead of waiting til September when the game actually comes out.
Smarter just to release a month early! In September no one will care, the game is out the first two weeks.

I just played every PS4 2K again and graphics (specially the lightning) have been on a nosedive since 14. Obviously I'm not saying the game didn't improve in other areas over the years, but this trailer did nothing to convince me this trend will end. My assumption (I'm not a specialist) is that the game became so huge that they must use the console's limited resources in other areas.

This game just through trailers and screenshots is already the best looking 2K basketball game of all time. 2K17 had more realistic lighting than 2K14 as most the lighting in 2K14 was over lit and way over done. I've said it multiple times but seriously I don't see how you could watch this trailer and see the screenshots and think that this game has graphically gotten worse since 2K14. Some light skin players were way too light in 14, the body types barely varied and were basically the same just some bigger and some smaller. The lighting made everything look good but most arenas aren't that lit and the courts are never that shiny.
2K18 is shaping up to be the best one ever if it lives up to the hype it's creating which I think it will. Graphically it is already the best one as the biggest flaws I see are some players having inaccurate hairstyles, slight lack of muscle definition, and the clippers jerseys having the wrong blue. Those are problems I'm ok with as previous games had worse especially 2K15 and 2K17.

2K14 had overdone lighting where the court looked liked a hockey rink with those extreme reflections and the textures on the player models looked like clay up close. This myth about 2K14 looking so good needs to die. It was amazing for it's next gen debut but 2K16 was FAR superior as a total visual package...lighting, textures, animations.
The trailer was below average, let's face it we're all gonna buy the game. We will be disappointed but LIVE has not caught up yet to make us trade our loyalty. This just gives them a chance to close the gap ever so slightly.
I do think that audio needs a whole revamp next year, and they need stop using game gb to add all these classics teams. Perfect your broken issues instead of adding unfinished content to patch on release. Or make these bonus classic/euro teams an expansion pack. Where we have the option to download the additional content

It's because they are still making the game for PS3 and 360 because $$$. WWE 2K18 finally stopped porting to last gen this year and the graphics saw a huge upgrade. Actually looks current gen now.

I greatly respect your point of view and I'll conceive the lighting was flashy although unrealistic. Of course the game had less variety (body type wise, less animations etc), but for me, the textures in the player models in 2K17 were worse than ever. They look muted and flat. And when sweat starts dropping, they look like shinny plastic soldier toys.
The same goes to the jerseys and hairdos...look at some of the letterings in some of the uniforms, take "New York" for instance...they look lit as if they were on batteries or something. Have a peak on Rudy Gay's hairdo...it shines like it's made of metal.
Overall, 2K14 still passes the eye test for me to this day with much less eye sores than the games that came after it.

They need to have an art guy come and talk to the community for once. I feel like suggestions fall on deaf ears because the people we have are mostly gameplay focused. Not that they shouldn't be, but we don't have anybody to direct art feedback to.
