  1. Need that 2K17 comparison. I heard he was not good in that but can honestly say I didn't play against them enough to see him/recall this.
But that aside, he definitely looks good here.
I love these pic releases! Normally I don't fuss, but in the past they haven't looked this damn good IMO.
DYING to see Greek Freak and Wiggins.

So they're just rolling out screenshots this week and nothing about gameplay and features? Disappointing week regarding 2k news.

Idk why, but for some reason, I have a feeling we're getting a trailer tomorrow
This looks amazing but uhh.....they just gonna skimp us on a Bulls screenshot? That's making me suspect on improvements to Wade or how Markkanen or any Bulls players look. Every team that's released their jersey designs has gotten a screenshot and even some players who's teams haven't released them yet have gotten screens except the Bulls. C'mon 2K

LMAO that's awful. Amazing how much detail seems to have been infused in just one year, and with correct body types as well. I hope the same detail has been given to the atmosphere and the gameplay.
Good lord I knew 2k17 had that awful HS body and that Hayward was off, but GOOD GOD was that bad

I was thinking that exact thing about Wade  as he's been awful and they've never gotten him down. I'm sure Markkanen was scanned though along with most rookies. I bet if Jimmy Butler was still a Bull we'd have a screen shot though.

LOL. Co-sign. 2k has done a bang up job this year with player models thus far. I will officially take 2k17 back to the store tomorrow. I know 2k will troll us when the Bucks release their jerseys by dropping a screen shot of Brogdon instead of The Greek..lol

Nah I don't think they'll have much reason to not drop him.

It was really hard. I even edited the body width and everything. I was like "something has to give" sadly only Brandon Ingram looked normal in that body type. Truly a detriment to the series.
I have no idea how 2k17 shipped with the body types all messed up like that. They really nailed the body types this year. Almost every player looks perfect. They knew we were pissed about the body types and fixed it drastically.

He was messed up man like most of the models were. Reading those old threads it was guys in there defending those models and saying some of the others were complaining too much.
Nah fam, it was pretty bad from the jump...Since they got KD right, im sure they got him pretty good too.
The pessimist in me is curious what they cut back on to improve it this much.
I've asked Mike Lowe how the court lighting/reflections looked (as I hunch this may be the cut back area).....
But if not, I can't imagine how good this game will look (5v5 broadcast cam). Be hard to tell it from a real life game.....
2K deserves credit here. The work has gone in.

That's my biggest worry too. I really hope they don't go back to how dark/dim the player lighting/courts were in 2K16. That will be a major letdown.
I'd also like to see more full body shots. Need to see more legs.

surely they had to dial back something, textures as a whole are on a different level this year
makes me wonder if the Pro/One X versions will get other visual enhancements beyond resolution if that's the case

LOL. Im dead. They don't even look like they belong to the same universe. It looks like 4 generations of Consoles between these two pics.
The 2k17 one is so bad it honestly makes 2k18 Hayward look real.

We already know they sacrificed crowd lighting, which opens up a lot of resources given they can drop the quality of the hundreds of 3d models in the crowd and you can't tell since it's darker the higher it goes. They probably messed with reflections too to save some resources because right now the graphics are damn near on par or surpassing 2k14 levels (people overrate how good that looked but forget the awful 2 body types, dim arenas, and lack of sideline characters like cheerleaders/mascots/cameramen).

Not that it needed 2k17, some of these pics are scary photorealistic. This and the Lonzo pics are crazy (the lighter skinetones seem to benefit the most from the lighting which is funny because years ago it was the opposite).
As a stickler for jerseys, 2k has been borderline perfect with regards to jersey colors, numbers, fonts, and other details. I have no worries they'll recreate every Nike jersey accurately.
I just really hope they did some work on the Retros, and classic teams.

I would hope that they made the game from the most powerful systems and just made subtractions accordingly when needed for the less powerful systems such us the Ps4 pro/Xbox one x having possibly having better lighting or floor reflections then the regular ps4 and Xbox one, but I'm just hoping for this logic to be true.

I'm starting to think 2K released 2K17 with the noodle arm player models on purpose so they could use the improved player models this year as a selling point. I mean there's no other way to justify how laughably bad some of them look compared to this year's lol. There's no way that 2K could look at some of last years models & been ok with releasing them. There had to be a method to the madness.

This actually makes sense because 2k16 looked pretty good graphically and the drop graphically from 2k16 to 2k17 looked so drastic it had to be done on purpose. But why take that route when your on top of the world like 2k is?
Yeah, something has to give/be compromised, but if it means player appearance and movement integrity is kept, so be it.. I'd rather get most if not all players looking and playing like themselves, than extra sh*t like realistic crowds/reactions/cheerleaders, etc.

I somewhat get what you're saying, but did you see the bodies in 2k14 and 15?
CP3 and Lowry have looked like pro wrestlers for years. KD & Giannis had Brock Lesnar traps in 2k16. They just haven't been strong in this area. The closest they've come to an accurate body type the last few years was 2k16 Steph.

Of all the pics we've seen so far, how many different body types have we really seen? They all seem very similar. Minus KD. I hope a LOT more than a few players have those KD legs.
2K17 is clearly horrible looking to most now by contrast but a lot of people thought complaints about this stuff was petty last year. This bodytype ish makes a difference.
OK, I need to stay off twitter. I didn't think about it until someone there pointed it out, but Hayward suffers from 2K18 Long Neck Syndrome too.
Still better than no necks IMO. But I'm afraid most or all guys are gonna have the long necks.

Most players bodies are gonna look similar which is why expecting 100's of different body types was unrealistic, HOWEVER, they did need a few more distinctive ones for certain players to appear accurate(ala KD).

Not really. The only egregious one was Oladipo, Hayward is actually fairly accurate. There's even a pic comparing to real life on like page 3 and it's damn near spot on.

Say hello to Ps4 Pro and Xbox One X
I don't get what people are talking about with the neck sizes ( only exception is oladipo's long neck ahh)
But if you look at an actual picture of the player, you'd see they actually have a "long neck" (which is normal, but I think their necks stand out in 2k because its a first time in a while their necks aren't connected to their shoulders/chest)
look at this pic of Gordon (or just search it up) and tell me his neck isn't identical with 2k18s

You can do this with any of the current screenshots they released and it'll look identical.
Once again, their necks looks drastic because 2k made a drastic change in the separation of their necks and the chest/shoulders.

I wonder if the jerseys will lay flat on the shoulders like in the screenshots? Last year they seemed to be flat in the screens then in game they werent.

They rested on the shoulders if the player wasn't moving. Problem is they had that weird jumping shoulder jersey movement thing going on and the barrel chests. But when rested it would lay on the shoulder (as much as possible given the still unnatural traps) For example:
Oh great neck complaints....its no wonder 2k takes a year off when it comes to graphics. Next year it's back to stubby necks. Can we just wait to see it in motion? Also you're looking from a perspective that makes his neck long....

Also... I'll say it again. If CAP hasn't vastly improved this is going to be awful. Draft classes and My players will stand out like a sore thumb.

Not really, its not like its cgi

When were doing side by side comparisons to an inferior console without stating it then yes it's very misleading.
May as well do PC screens VS PS2 while we're at it.
Most people would assume PS4/One due to the newer consoles not being that popular. So it's essentially false advertising to say "this is the graphics" But not state for one specific console only.

I agree. If they turn around and give us some details about the improvements and mention different body types I'm preordering.
Until then unfortunately still on the fence.
Just found out that WWE 2k18 is using the same graphics engine as this game...I'm talking, same lighting, same shading, same skin textures...etc etc
How cool would it be if the developers of that game shared their face creation system in return?

The skin tone alone makes it so much better. Now I really want to see Kevin Love. He's always looked like a caveman in 2k games, so I'm hoping they were able to get him right this year.
When it comes to necks, as someone who edits near every player in the league, I found myself complaining like a little old lady at the fact, near every player for the past few years, looked like they had their head knocked down into their chest with a hammer!
So I personally will accept the long necks as its more realistic for these generally lanky guys. And from the screens seen so far, I actually think they look good.

I don't think it was them being lazy and no way they were incompetent enough to think those super skinny bodies were acceptable. They probably didn't have enough time to put in the proper body types or some sort of glitch happened along the way that they couldn't fix in time.

Question concerning 2k's approach to art:
    (1) What's the logic behind not recycling or reusing player models that have been "perfected" so to speak (quote unquote perfected in facial feature, body types) in past iteration and simply import them to the new game. i.e. 2k16 had an extremely solid Curry body type.
    (2) What's the logic for having only apparently 5 player models for last year or the year before's game, as oppose to continually building on what came beforehand? Since this year's model looks appropriately proportion (maybe not Dwight Howard's wing span), but would it be appropriately efficient to keep the ones that are "on point" and adjust models that aren't "perfect" for future releases. Overtime, instead of a library of 5 models, there might be a library of 25 to 45 different body types, and unique body types.
Who else is feenin' for more pics??
I wanna see full bodies tho. Curry's legs looked thick in the pic with him and KD. I wanna see if it was just the camera view or what.
I managed to get some (albeit, vague) feedback from DMan on Twitter.
Giannis and Wiggins "on point" (body models).
Asked about Dwight legs but he forgot to look at the legs.
