NBA 2K18 Gameplay Videos (JumpmanGerm) - Shaky-Cam Footage

JumpmanGerm has posted some NBA 2K18 gameplay footage from the Gamestop Expo. As always, these types of videos are monitored by 2K, so it’s hard for these guys to really get the footage we want to see. With that said, we will no doubt see a few more of these shaky-cam videos pop up from now until Thursday’s Run the Neighborhood event.

UPDATE: He just uploaded another NBA 2K18 gameplay video, this one is much shorter.

Sometimes I wanna smack the person who aims the camera in these videos haha......
I thought the same but he was trying to be discrete. Not much to really to gather from this vid.

It's very tough to see any reason for optimism in the video. Glad we got "something" but I was underwhelmed. I'll wait til I get my hands on it, and play it like it should be played, lol. Very appreciative of the video though.

the only good thing about these terrible videos is that it (hopefully) forces 2K to respond with real videos sooner.

Why does ghetto footage always have to be of two garbage cans on the sticks smh

They play really bad so they don't draw attention from others lol. Once they realize they're in the clear they pull out the nokia phone and start recording. These guys know what they're doing.

WTF: You're underwhelmed with a ShakeyCam, that was cutting off the players heads the 1st min of the Broadcast, lol! Too funny.

I'm disappointed with the movement. But it can look one way, and feel a completely different. One thing I liked was at the 3:15 or 3:20 thereabout. Love catches and quickly rises for the jumper. It looked pretty fluid.
Disappointed in the shaky cam, of course. The content of the shaky cam I was expecting a little different. Regardless, I'll get my hands on it. Preordered on X1, PS4 and Switch, lol.

    Dang, you pre-order NBA 2k18 on 3 different console : 180 bucks
its bootleg footage, but doesnt give me any hype for the 8th. hopefully its a situation where gameplay feels different but you cant tell from just watching.
also - people still play on 2k cam?..
    WTF
Unfortunately so. 2k18 on 3, and Live on 2. Thankfully NBA games are the only ones I generally play, so it's all good.

Still can't believe they don't change the scoreboard. It is so ****ing horrible oh my god

i agree with you about this boring scoreboard.. they are so lazy to change new scoreboard. i want them to change new scoreboard that should be similar to ESPN or NBA Network

I'll be hyped if they can display the cpu opponent's stats - perhaps on the left and mine on the right as per current 2K17. Care less whether they are having a new or old scoreboard ;)

    Generic presentation <<<
2k has too much money to not secure a deal with one these broadcasting networks
The ballhandler movement looks SO much better than I've ever seen before. It really looks like you'll have full, MUCH tighter control of the ballhandler than in games past.
And the perimeter defense looks incredible as well. Good defenders stuck with their guy off the dribble with NO brick wall animations. Hip riding and shadowing to the basket in order to contest, something I've been waiting years to see!
Unfortunately the collisions are a little TOO relaxed as there were a lot of times where it looked like the game kind of ignored nearby defenders when triggering shot and layup animations.

I don't get the 2k cam hate lol

I just enjoy the more authentic looking presentation tbh.... Feel like it's too easy to play on 2k cam
I notice they still have the animation where if you take a J and a guy is guarding you tight, you do that same animation where you fall/stumble backwards.
I don't mind that every now and then, but it seems to happen all the time.
    The 24th Letter
    I've never bought a 2k and said:
"This is exactly what the shaky cam footage was like"
I'm betting that will continue...thanks for the footage though.
    Just ready for the 8th...lol

Exactly. I saw some noticeable things in the movement. There were some very apparent things off the bat that looked very promising. That being said, we never actually know until it's in our hand, day 1, with the day one patch.
Also the same reason I pointed out the guy trying the defacto park move at 4 minutes. The guys in the shaky cams are always either random guys or casual/low tier players who you won't get many "interactions" out of. So a lot of the situations seen are sloppy and bad contextual animations usually.

After reading the posts, I now realize I'm not the only one who can't stand the 2k cam view.

Yeah..... I mean I understand the practical use (for those who play with it - not me personally).
But when just watching, 2K is definitely just not as nice to look at. If it were, TV games would be broadcast from that angle....

our thirst is real lol - i dont even wanna purchase 2k this year. but im still lurking lmao
also, i dont think theres any REAL hate for the 2k cam. i used it for years then went back to broadcast about 3-4 yrs ago. i hate the turn around delay and lack of depth perception around the basket on 2k cam
The only thing i can hardly see from this blurry mess is the movement seems a little better. He really switched positions on the best looking part of the video smh. Dribbling looks the same, not too happy about that.
That cellphone is boo boo, that in game camera angle is the worst, no one watching the NBA on TV from that camera, it's trash!!!
Gameplay was boo, and bunch of weird movement and animations, made it look like 2k17, nothing even looked like a new game!

Well Beluba did say it's all about the feel of the game. But you're right nothing looks very different from what i can see clear enough lol.
Edit* The pump fake drive at 2:18 looked lot better than in 17, definitely a new looking animation.
I think the only logical thing for 2K to do now is to release a video, 48 minutes on broadcast cam - 4K res.
Let's face it, it's the only move 2K has left now :)
    MarkWilliam
The pull up J in this one was nice and quick. Liked that.

And the person was complaining about missing a wide open shot...smh. He'll be the player who will complain the loudest and 2K18 will move from being a great day 1 release game to a game catering to crybabies.
I am trying appreciate the motorola razer footage but this is unbearable...It's always dudes that are *** at the game. Happy we don't have to time layups anymore..That got annoying fast.
I forgot to go off topic and complain about camera angles....I hate broadcast cam. You are basically forced to play half court. Fast breaks are almost impossible to see, because you can't see all the way up the court.

From the vids of the dude from Twitter Tunechid posted.... I don't know if it's just me but I'm not seeing any suction into man animations especially when he drives in and does some layups...could be my eyes though...one positive I heard from the dude playing "the cpu is smarter this year"

There was no suction in 2k17's Prelude or launch day either lol.
At this point, it's all a matter of how well the game plays after a few of patches. I know it's going to be feel amazing when it first comes out.

Are we really expected to have to scroll through all these NBA, classics, all-time and Euro teams in Play Now for another year running? Because I don't see any sub menu. I know it's a small thing but come on y'all.. come on now
I like the look of the team select screen though. I liked 2K17s aswell (similar to 18). Looks clean.
Agree, there should be a sub menu with so many teams in.

Nah there is an option to choose but it's obvious this demo doesn't have everything in it.
I was at the event today in Vegas and wanted to share a few things I noticed during my time with the game:
    1. Presentation is pretty much the same. Only Kenny, Shaq and EJ in the booth.
    2. David Aldridge and same announcer teams were there
    3. Build I got to play had Kyrie on the Celtics. Ironically, with IT on the Cavs, the were ranked 1st in all 3 categories
    4. Movement is way more fluid, which is crazy.
    5. It was on PS4 and I'm an Xbox One guy, so I couldn't play with the edge that I normally would, but I felt a difference on defense between sliding with Crowder than IT
    6. Colors and courts seem to pop more this year
    7. Atmosphere was better, but still not on Live's level yet
    8. AI teammates seemed to make better plays on their own. I was playing with my 5 year old son, who is still learning the game, so when he would overplay my teammate would make the right cut immediately.
    9. Contact going to the hoop seemed to matter more on makes and misses
    10. The new shot meter behind your head is an improvement. I was able to get a few greens where the meter fills up and does this blinking thing, which resulted in all makes. Wasn't easy to do, but I was able to pull it off a few times.
    11. At the top of the screen you get two text blocks, one saying the shot timing and the other states how covered you were.
    12. Halftime show was improved (style wise), but much of the same structure.
    13. End of quarter still has the in game player interviews
If you have more specific questions let me know. They did say it was a pretty early build, but I could tell it was better than 17 feel wise and I play a lot of 17.

You're probably right. On further inspection I can see that pressing triangle is now for changing uniforms so I'm assuming R1 and L1 will cycle through team types.
Besides that I like that the ratings and lineups are now on the same page instead of fading in and out. My only gripe is seeing real player photos mixed with in game renders but I guess it's going to be like until another big jump in graphics. Very clean look overall though.

The blow-by was on a human controlled defender who didn't get in a defensive stance or anything. He pretty much ran past the guy with the ball.
I wanna blow-bys like this vs the CPU.

Well for me playing against a human controlled player in 17 that hitch I spoke of would've allowed him enough time to slide over, bump my player, and impede him from driving. That's why I liked what I saw and yes if we can do it vs the cpu that will be freaking fantastic.
    swac07
Could you elaborate more on player movement and how it felt?

To me it felt more grounded like you were taking steps and it was weighted. With that being said it was easier to blow by defenders with IT.. Off the ball, there were more cuts based on where you were with the ball and how the defense was playing their man.
    1999-????
I've always played with the Broadcast cam. How can you tell if the game is improved with this wacky *** camera angle?
Also, these dudes need to learn how to direct, my goodness. Don't record if you're scared. Rather have no footage than this. How hard is it to hold the camera in one position? :jpshakehe

Yeah, I don't like it either. You have people that like to play like they are watching a game on TV (me) and you have guys that actually like to feel like they are on the court.
I can't get into the 2K cam. The only time I mainly played on that cam was back on the old Live games when I believe it was called Baseline Low.
Both cameras have their pros and cons. Like the 2K cam allows you to see the spacing better and perform dribble moves but I just can't mess with it like that especially when just watching.

Yeah man I've been playing on broadcast since we had the option to do so. The game looks (I know this sounds silly.) too Game like. I'm a sim guy 100% through. I just can't get down with the 2K cam.
