The official MLB The Show account revealed a new “Cityscapes” card series set to arrive this Friday, featuring a lineup of players inspired by the cities they played in. Visually, these cards stand out immediately, blending skyline imagery with stylized player art in a way that feels closer to a collectible set than your standard Diamond Dynasty drop.

The initial group includes names like Dave Parker, Edgar Martínez, John Franco, and Max Muncy, alongside Brian Dozier, Ian Kinsler, Chandler Simpson, Willie McGee, Félix Bautista, and Richie Sexson.

From a gameplay perspective, there are a few players here who should absolutely catch one’s eye.

In my experience, Edgar Martinez has always been a stellar card in Diamond Dynasty. If this version leans into his clutch and contact, he’s going to be a plug-and-play option at DH for a lot of teams. He might even be viable at third base.

Ian Kinsler is another one to watch. His cards typically play above their ratings thanks to balanced hitting and solid defense at second base, which makes him a reliable option for players who value consistency over pure power.

Max Muncy is always a reliable power bat, and summing they give Felix Bautista an outlier fastball (they’ve been stingy with outliers this year), he can be a really good reliever for those high-leverage innings late in games.

The wild card here is Chandler Simpson. If San Diego Studio leans into his real-life speed profile, he could immediately become one of the fastest players in Diamond Dynasty, which is always a valuable trait for players who like to pressure defenses on the basepaths. “Speed don’t slump,” as they say.

At the very least, this looks like a well-rounded drop. You’ve got a mix of legends, current players, and different playstyles, which should give most lineups something to work with.

We’ll have to wait for the full attributes to know who truly stands out, but based on the early reveal, this is shaping up to be one of the more interesting themed sets MLB The Show 26 has rolled out so far.
