MLB The Show 26: Players to Invest in Before the Next Roster Update

These ten cheap players will be valuable assets.

If you’re an avid collector of sports cards, you’ll know that buying cards of young up-and-coming prospects and young stars is the most cost-efficient way to build up your collection. This same way of thinking also applies to MLB The Show 26 Diamond Dynasty mode. Getting cheap cards and hidden gems that are set to go up in value after the next roster update in early June will be key to building a top-tier team.

4.8

Ben Rice, 1B, New York Yankees — 82 overall gold

Shea Langeliers, C, Oakland Athletics — 84 overall gold

Mickey Moniak, RF, Colorado Rockies — 79 overall silver

Munetaka Murakami, 1B, Chicago White Sox — 78 overall silver

Kevin McGonigle, SS, Detroit Tigers — 72 overall bronze

Starting with an early MVP contender, Ben Rice has gone toe to toe with his teammate Aaron Judge as they both had red-hot bats to begin the year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rice were a diamond player after the next update. Along with Rice, we also have two other players in the top five in OPS in the MLB: Moniak and Langeliers, giving their teams early hope.

Finally, we have two rookie superstars out of the American Central with Japanese slugger Munetaka Murakami raking in 15 homers so far this season, and shortstop Kevin McGonigle also starting off the season fast.

Pitchers

Davis Martin, SP, Chicago White Sox — 76 overall silver

Michael McGreevy, SP, St. Louis Cardinals — 77 overall silver

Chase Burns, SP, Cincinnati Reds — 80 overall gold

Riley O’Brien, CP, St. Louis Cardinals — 74 overall bronze

Jose Soriano, SP, Los Angeles Angels — 78 overall silver

Murakami has not been the only young star who started hot for the White Sox; they’ve also got Davis Martin absolutely dominating on the mound, looking like a true diamond as an ace pitcher with a 1.62 ERA and five wins. Chase Burns is also starting off hot as one of the most highly touted prospects in the league; he’s been red hot in his true rookie campaign with the Reds after pitching 43 major league innings last year.

There is also a pair of Cardinals pitchers on this list that are truly outstanding, with McGreevy and O’Brien leading a young pitching staff to an excellent year so far. O’Brien leads the league in saves, and McGreevy is fourth in the league in WHIP. Finally on this list is Jose Soriano, who is in his fourth season in the MLB but has finally seemed to put it together this season, putting up 61 Ks in 54 innings while keeping his ERA under 2 in 9 appearances.
